Blue Lake County Park

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Muskegon County operates Blue Lake County Park as a small lakeside campground on Big Blue Lake near camping near Twin Lake, open from May 15 through September 15. The park sits directly on the water, with sites that mix forested and open terrain. Access is flexible: campers can drive in, walk in, hike in, or arrive by boat. The campground is small enough that the entire lake-facing layout stays visible from most sites.

Water access is the consistent draw here. The swimming beach gets good marks for cleanliness, and multiple reviewers note the views across the lake, particularly from site 1, which one camper called the best in the park for sightlines toward the water. Wildlife sightings are common. Fishing is possible from the lake, though the campground itself does not include a dedicated fishing pier. Diamond Point Campground and Oak Knoll Family Campground are nearby alternatives in the same corridor if Blue Lake fills up.

Hookups include electric and water, with a dump station on site. Showers and restrooms are available, though conditions have varied by season. One reviewer reported finding restrooms in poor shape mid-summer despite prior positive reports. The 15-amp electrical outlets have caused issues for some campers; the 30-amp connections appear more reliable. There is no playground. At $45 per night, the campground works well for a short lakeside stay without the crowds common at larger Lake Michigan-area parks.

Kind of expensive for what you get

We only saw camp host once the restrooms were not in the best shape and when we booked it said there was only one site available but our whole stay there was only 4 campers in the entire park and two of them were empty one was a relative of mine

Small beautiful park

Very pretty small campground right on blue lake. Lots of wildlife. We stayed at site 1 best views of the whole site. A little tricky to make work bet definitely best site. Beautiful sunset. Clean showers and bathrooms. Clean swimming beach

Negatives. 15amp outlet was tricky and popped everytime we plugged anything into it. 30amp plug worked fine.

No playground for children.

Nice and quiet

Quiet, very small campground on Big Blue Lake. Gorgeous water views and very clean showers and rest rooms. Nice quick trip from home for a weekend if you’re wanting a quick camp with not much to do, this is your place.

Perfect

Not too many people know about this area, so it's never as busy as some of the Lake Michigan spots. But, the fishing and scenery can't be beat!
