Loons calling across Green Lake in the early morning is one of the more consistent details reviewers mention about this forested section of Interlochen State Park. The 600-series sites that make up the north loop are separated from the 700-series south sites by the boat launch area, and the layout gives the north section a distinct character: large, mostly level sites spaced well apart, with some positioned directly on the water. Access is drive-in, and RVs up to 30 feet can use the electric hookups available here.
Amenities are limited but functional. Water comes from hand pumps, restrooms are pit toilets, and showers require a short drive or roughly a mile walk through the woods to the main Interlochen campground. Stairs lead directly down to the lake, which reviewers describe as clean, though the shoreline is rocky and mucky rather than a proper beach. The state park does flag swimmer's itch as a seasonal concern, so check current conditions before letting kids wade in.
Road noise is the most frequently mentioned drawback. The campground runs parallel to M-137, and several reviewers note that traffic carries into the sites, particularly for light sleepers. Cell coverage is limited, with one reviewer getting only one bar of LTE on T-Mobile. Duck Lake Campground sits just to the northeast if electric hookups and more developed facilities are a priority. Gerard E. sums up the setup plainly: "No electric, hand pump for water and pit toilets spread throughout the area." This campground makes the most sense for campers who want direct lake access and spacious sites and can tolerate the trade-offs that come with rustic infrastructure.
