Most sites at Curlew Pond sit directly on the water, creating an immediate connection to the pond that defines this section of Myles Standish State Forest. The campground operates seasonally from May through October, accommodating RVs up to 25 feet with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer connections. Sites cluster closely together with minimal privacy between neighbors, though the waterfront positioning helps offset the compact layout.
The forested setting provides shade while maintaining access to swimming, fishing, and paddling activities on the pond. Recent upgrades include clean bathrooms and private shower rooms, though Tim S. notes the showers run "scalding hot" with push-button operation. A single water spigot serves the entire campground, supplemented by dish-washing sinks at various locations. The $17 nightly rate includes the hookup amenities and access to hiking trails throughout the broader state forest.
Noise levels vary significantly depending on neighboring campers, with some visitors experiencing quiet nights while others encounter loud music and day drinking. Rangers patrol regularly but enforcement appears less consistent than at smaller state campgrounds. An ice cream truck makes daily rounds, adding to the family-friendly atmosphere but potentially disrupting the forest setting.
Campers wanting more space between sites might consider Ellis-Haven Family Campground for a different layout option.
