Not free

Stayed out two nights in two different spots. The morning after my second night I was approached and told it was $10 a night. Very poorly maintained campsites. Very over grown. A lot of loud traffic near by. There is a boat ramp. However, there’s a fee to use it. Would not recommend this campsite to anyone. There are no free campsites on Rough river lake.

Just parking thanks

Peters Cave on Rough River Lake, Ky was a little confusing for me. The signs had Army Corp of Engineer on them but the campground was clearly privately owned.

The sites were not well maintained, the grass and weeds were growing in the gravel area and the tables and fire rings were rickety. You picked a spot in the narrow grass strip along side the gravel road that runs to the boat ramp. There is woodland at your back with no easy ascent to the water below. Some of the sites offer electric and water hook up.

The one pro is that it is off the beaten path and not very busy, that being said the waterway below was busy and loud.

You are co-located with boat storage and repair. There is a small marina near the boat ramp that had some loud partying people.

Not my idea of a fun camping trip, more like a place to sleep at night after spending the day on the water. Will not be returning to this area.
