Hookups are absent at Mulberry Campground, which keeps the sites largely open even on busy holiday weekends. Set within Kanopolis State Park, this drive-in campground provides drinking water, picnic tables, trash service, and a dump station, along with cell service and fire rings. The swimming beach is close by, but campers should carry their own water to the site since no spigot sits nearby. Pets are welcome. It works best for tent campers and hammock hangers who don't need electrical hookups.
Description
The first state park in Kansas, Kanopolis State Park is situated in the rolling hills, bluffs and woods of the scenic Smoky Hills region of the state. From the towering Dakota sandstone bluffs to the caves and crevices of Horsethief Canyon, the park and surrounding area offer rugged beauty and stunning vistas. The park is split into two areas north and south of the dam and there are two federal parks, as well.
