Anglers and families gravitate toward Browns Lake Bigelow Park, where full hookups and lake access combine at a county-managed facility near Salix. The campground sits alongside Browns Lake with spacious sites that accommodate RVs up to 30 feet, though several reviewers note the area doesn't typically fill up even on weekends. Sites include water, electric, and sewer connections, with some offering shade from mature trees.
The facility centers around lake recreation, featuring a fishing dock, boat launch, and swimming beach without lifeguard supervision. Campers can access horseshoe pits, basketball and volleyball courts, plus a playground for children. Jay M. notes "numerous trees and sites are spacious," with lakeside spots available on a first-come basis. The modern restroom building doubles as tornado shelter and includes four individual shower rooms plus four handicapped-accessible units.
WiFi reaches throughout the campground, an uncommon amenity for county parks. The on-site host sells ice, bait, and soft drinks, while a rental shelter accommodates groups. Sites operate on a first-come, first-served system from May through October at $30 per night. Those seeking additional options can find places to camp near Salix within the broader region.
