Nice small county park campground

General: This is a small (29-site) county park campground situated along the North Fork Maquoketa River. Nine of the sites are reservable, and the rest are first-come, first-served. Some sites are primitive, and some have water and 30-amp electricity hookups. There is one ADA-accessible site with a paved camper pad.

Site Quality: Most sites are level. The camper pads are gravel/grass, but not all are clearly defined. Each site has a picnic table and a fire ring.

Bath/Shower: The bath/shower house was closed when we were there in November but there are vault toilets about a quarter mile from the campground (in the day-use area) that were very clean and well-stocked when we were there.

Activities/Amenities: Many activities including disc golf, three hiking trails, volleyball, two playgrounds (one in the day-use area and one by the campsites). There are two reservable picnic shelters. There is also a dump station.

We were tent camping in November on a backpacking trip so we didn’t take advantage of any of the activities but would return in our van on a future camping trip. We were the ONLY ones in the campground at this time of year!

Perfect!

So peaceful and relaxing! I wish I would have planned our trip to stay here the whole time. Unfortunately we were only there one night. Bathrooms were clean, campground was clean! It was great. We will definitely be back!

Perfect Place to Stay

Cannot say enough about this campground. Good clean restrooms. Plenty of space. Quiet. LOTS of shade. Fun place to be in a thunder storm!

Great Place to Stay

Very nice campground at reasonable price. Water/Elec was $18 dollars night. We stayed just after Labor Day and we were one of 6 trailers in the entire park. The showers and restrooms are what you might expect for an unattended camp ground. We did see a sign in front of a trailer that said camp host but they must have had the night off. If I was coming back to the area I would definitely come back to this campground.

Great camping near The Field Of Dreams

Great campground near Dyersville, IA (home to The Field Of Dreams site). The campground is a lollipop loop with sites on one side along the creek and on the other along woods. All of the sites are large and well spaced with good hammock trees, fire pits, and picnic tables, and nice gravel parking pads. The sites are so large you have lots of places to pick from to pitch your tent on the level grassy sites. The center of the loop has a few campsites and a nice playground. The campground has a nice, newer shower house with free showers. The local sheriff's office regularly sends a trooper through to patrol the campground and collect the fee envelopes from the drop box. It was nice visiting with him. The RV sites are primarily along the “stick” portion of the lollipop loop as well as clustered near the shower house. Outside the campground there is a nice park with pavilions, picnic spots, and creek access for fishing.
