Twin Bridges County Park

Fishing enthusiasts will find Twin Bridges County Park positioned along Elk Creek, with about half the sites situated near the water though few offer direct creek access. The county-managed campground provides electric hookups for RVs, a dump station, and basic amenities including restrooms and drinking water. All sites feature mature trees providing shade coverage.

The camp host sells ice at $2 per bag, while three reservable pavilions offer additional gathering space. Adjacent hiking and biking trails through the Twin Bridges Conservation Area include elevation changes across rolling terrain. Campers can explore places to camp around Colesburg for additional options in this northeast Iowa region. The location works well for anglers targeting the stocked trout stream and those seeking a wooded camping base with modern conveniences.

Quiet and stream side

Along Elk Creek, about half of the campground has sites on the Creek, but very few actually have access to the creek. All of the sites have nice trees and shade. There are three nice pavilions in the campground that you can reserve (or hang out in if they are available). There are no showers and the bathrooms are older, but clean. There is a dump station and a handful of sites with hookups for RV’s. The camp host has ice for sale at $2.00 a bag (some of the cheapest ice pricing I’ve seen in a campground!). Nearby is the Twin Bridges Conservation Area with nice hiking trails; be prepared for some elevation gain and loss as you go over hill and dale. I don’t fish, but apparently this is a great stocked stream for trout fishing.
