Open terrain defines the camping experience at Bald Eagle Campground and Cabins, where spacious RV sites spread across flat, level ground within Scott County Park. The campground caters primarily to RVers with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer connections, though tent camping remains possible on the hard-packed sites.
Sites here lack the tree cover found elsewhere in the park, creating an exposed but organized layout that accommodates large rigs easily. Stuart K. notes the land is "incredibly flat, back-in slots are spacious, hard and very level grounds are incredibly well-organized." The bathroom and shower facilities earn consistent praise for cleanliness and hot water availability, with Monday designated as cleaning day when staff refresh all amenities.
Pride Lake sits adjacent to the campground, offering fishing and paddling opportunities within walking distance. The park's network of hiking, biking, and equestrian trails extends throughout the property, connecting to attractions like Walnut Grove Pioneer Village. A heated swimming pool with water slides operates seasonally, along with an 18-hole golf course and multiple picnic shelters. Campers can purchase firewood at the entry station and access WiFi throughout the campground.
Park rangers patrol regularly, contributing to the generally quiet atmosphere despite the campground's size. Sites fill up quickly on weekends, particularly during summer months when families frequent the area. The flat, open design means limited privacy between sites, though visitors consistently report friendly interactions with fellow campers. Cell service works well for major carriers, and an electric vehicle charging station serves modern camping needs.
For those preferring more tree coverage, Incahias Campground - Scott County Park offers a different setting within the same park system.
