One of our favorite parks!

We have been coming here every year since 2016. Most of the sites are shady. Our favorite site is 72. It is close to a water hookup if you need to top off your fresh water tank, shady, and not too close to other sites. They added a new shower house close by in 2022 or 2023.

Flat & Shaded Campground

I live withing a half hour of this State Park and so far it is in my top 3 best campgrounds. The sites are mostly all shaded and very flat. They're nearly all drop and hook sites so very little need for leveling on nearly all sites. The lakes are nice to fish, kayak, or paddle boat on. The trails are nice as well. This park is a must for any type of camping.

Pretty Standard

Nice place to go camp in April. Nobody is there. Electric was available but no water as usual this time of year. No showers or flush toilets either. There is som construction going on and it should be nice when Summer comes and the regular camping season is open.

Our Favorite SP!

This park is our absolute favorite State Park! We live within an hour of the park, and we’ve stayed here several times. The campground is nicely laid out, the sites are of a good size, and the activities at the park are great. There is a nice pool (open seasonally), three large lakes with great fishing, and miles of trails for all skill levels. Highly recommend!

Nice large campground

My wife and were at site 20 from 09/10/21 - 09/12/21 camping in a Winnebago Micro Minnie 2108 TB. This site appears to be one of the smaller of the electric campsites, we are new to RV camping and I am still gaining experience in backing our travel trailer into sites. Although one of the smaller sites I had no problem with backing. The site was very clean and all for staff that I interacted with were extremely helpful and friendly.

Indiana beauty

We are new to camping but definitely enjoyed staying here last weekend. Lots of space for each camp site and the restrooms were clean with good showers. The kids LOVED the pool but weren’t as excited about the hiking since there wasn’t any “rugged” trails 🤣

Yearly spot

I'm 38 and have gone camping here one way or the other probably 30 years. Absolutely love it. It has spanned 4 generations now that go every year. Pretty sure my kids love it enough it will be a tradition, even if not every year they will make sure to come back and bring their families.

The park is beautiful great hiking and biking. Rented kayaks and it was like glass on the lake. Very reasonable boat rentals. Campground was beautiful. Limit number of water sites but all have electric facilities were very well maintained. Too bad Covid closed the pool

Great Camp Ground

Tons of hiking but tons of ticks!! We were there in Early June and the ticks were everywhere. Stay on the gravel. But very nice place with showers.

3 lakes, shady campsites, great pool

We came to Shakamak for a 3 day trip this weekend after visiting White Rock Park on Wednesday. The campsites were well kept, shaded, and the bathroom/shower house was clean. There were several nice looking trails, 3 lakes that were great for fishing, and a really nice pool with water slides and diving board. The pool also had a splash area/wading pool for your smaller kiddos. Firewood and ice were decently priced, and we found many of the electric campsites backed up to the lakes. We did have several nighttime visits from a couple large raccoon families, but it became a game for the kids as they watched for them.

Nice all around state park

There’s plenty to do here for all ages. We had a special pancake breakfast by the Friends of Shakamak- all you can eat! That was a treat! In spite of the rain, we enjoyed the sights and sounds of nature and camping with the family. There are three beautiful lakes there that are good for boating and fishing. There is a large pool too with a nature center that has limited hours. Today, the Nature Center had a snake demonstration at 2 pm. Yesterday was planned a kayak trip by the DNR there. There are plenty of playgrounds, a camp store, and nice bathroom/ shower houses. The trails are good for the Explorer! You will enjoy this park!

“Fantastic Indiana camping experience.”

This is just a beautiful Indiana State Park located near the small community of Jasonville, Indiana which offers simple dining, grocery store, hardware store and fuel. The park has numerous recreational activities to include 3 lakes spanning some 400 acres that are known for spectacular fishing, seasonal family aquatic center for swimming with a large water slide, seasonal nature center, and several hiking trails. The campsites are in a heavily wooded area with fantastic tree canopy for shade and comfort. Sites are mostly level gravel pads ranging from primitive to 30 amp electric, 50 amp electric or a limited number of full hookup; water, sewer and 50 amp service sites plus plenty of clean bath houses. Large rig friendly. The park also has family cabins available. A small camp store supplies firewood, ice, bait and sundries...Indiana fishing license at the park office. Want to relax...enjoy beautiful sunsets on the lake, paddling a canoe or kayak, or casting a line for dinner...this is a perfect place to make that happen.

Great campground. Large park.

Great place to camp. They have pull spaces for large motor homes with 50 Amp electric. They also have several nice shower houses and plenty of dumpsters for dumping trash. Each site includes a fire pit, electric, and picknick table. Online reservations was a breeze. The only negative is the main parts of the park are a good distance from the camping. The pool is wonderful and many trails to explore.
