We decided on a whim to get away from home for a few days. This was a very relaxing stay. We stayed in the ATV campground as we brought our side by side. We did more hiking than off road riding. We discovered that the off road area hasn’t been open for very long. We went out the first day, but not again after that since we felt like we needed to be with other riders for safety. The hiking is so nice here we have a 5 year old and he hiked with us on four different trails during our stay. We found registration an easy process, and it was easy to find our campsite once we arrived. Each spot has a picnic table, lantern hook, grill, and fire ring. There are other accommodations such as tent camping, hike to camp, and regular RV spots with concrete pads. We enjoyed our stay and we will come back.
We stayed in this campground for 5 days. The pads are washed before each guest arrives. Sites are roomy and allow plenty of space to park the tow vehicle with ample room remaining. The resort/campground provides transportation to all of the parks and within the resort area, too. Two stores and and four restaurants are available in the campground, but are most easily accessible by bicycle or golf cart. Golf carts are available to rent, but there were none available during our stay. Personal golf carts are allowed, and I’d strongly suggest having one. Plenty of activities are available for families and mostly geared toward younger campers; campfire, s’mores, movies, and visits from Disney characters. The resort has two pools, each with its own atmosphere. One has a spray ground and waterside while the other is meant to be quiet and relaxing. We spent most of our time in the parks, but found that we could get around in the campground on our bikes when we did need to go somewhere besides the amusement parks. There are plenty of activities that give families a break from the amusement parks. The staff is always helpful and friendly. Someone is always available for assistance or general information. There was always someone at the bus stop to ensure guests knew where they needed to go. And overflow parking area is provided for guests who have to move out of the campground at the end of their stay, but still want to spend more time in the amusement parks. This was very helpful for us, we got a few extra hours before we left the area.
We frequent this RV resort. It’s new to Port Aransas and recovered quickly after hurricane Harvey. It is adjacent to the nature preserve, which gives it a feeling of seclusion. This campground is close to restaurants and stores. We typically ride our bicycles around to eat, sightsee, or just enjoy the island. They recently opened a second area of the campground with its own pool, bathhouse/clubhouse and gym. All of the facilities are new, modern, and well maintained. The staff is friendly, helpful, and always available to help guests.
Although we only stayed for a short time, we like this campground and will go back if we're in the area again. The staff is nice and the park is nice and clean. The park seems crowded due to people camping there on a long term basis.
This campground is wooded, but has water access. Although swimming is not allowed on that beach, the water is not off limits, so it's a nice place to hang out. The bath and laundry facilities are always clean and well cared for. I love to run and the path through the campground leads to the sea wall. The campground is walking distance to the lighthouse and a short drive to the museum on base. Beaches and all things related are just a short drive away! We'll stay again if we can get a reservation.
Our site was semi private with a porch swing and grill. We had such a fun stay here. Not only do they have a pool and playground, they run a small train every evening for the kids to ride. There is a snack bar/grill at the office and ice cream every evening! Convenient to town, this campground is one of our favorites!
We've stayed here twice and would certainly go back again! The fact that the property is so heavily wooded allows private seclusion in the individual spots as well as noise reduction. We used the pool and eat dinner at the restaurant that is walking distance across the road. The staff is friendly. The park is walking distance to a fishing pier as well as the beach.
Our only complaint would be the size of the spots. We were quite close to our neighbors. There is plenty of space for our dogs to enjoy. We had family join us there and they rented a cabin. Cabins are nice. The pools were both nice and clean. The restaurant in the park was yummy and so convenient. The bathroom and showers were clean. There were improvements in progress, I'm sure it is just getting better!
The cost of the spot was excellent. This is where we moved to after leaving Camp Atterbury. There are very few 50 amp spots, so we were in a 30 amp spot. The camp host was nice and helpful. The bathroom is adequate. There are no laundry facilities. There's lots of shade trees and the area is lush and green.
This is a quiet location with nice facilities. We always get a reservation or a spot on short notice, such as when we are passing through. Shower and laundry facilities are nice and well maintained. The campground is a good distance from main base and town, but that ensures a quiet place to stay.
We stayed one night, but we had to move to another campground because there are literally only two available campsites. The other spots are filled with people who are living there permanently.
We were bothered daily by a camp host. Because people live there, there is a rotation schedule from dry camping areas to full hook-ups. We never moved to a full hook-ups because we weren't there long enough. They don't take reservations. Its first come first serve in all camping spots. We would not have been allowed to continue dry camping in our spot if we had wanted to. The dry camping area is nicer and more private than the area for full hook-ups. The cost was low and considering the time of year and unnecessary drama we tolerated during our stay it was nice. The laundry and bathroom facilities are nice and well maintained. We were close driving or bicycling distance from Key West.
There are so many relaxing activities in the area. The pool is perfect! We hiked, biked, canoed, and played frisbee golf. The campground is close to Savannah, so we could go for the day and return in time for a swim before the pool closed.
