    Overview

    Rainbow Point Campground is located next to scenic Lake Cascade in west central Idaho. It is near the town of Donnelly, at an elevation of 4,850 feet. Boating, fishing, swimming and hiking are popular activities in this scenic region. Note: During the 2022 season, thinning work will be conducted in neighboring Amanita campground to reduce the risk associated with root rot and subsequent hazard trees.

    Lake Cascade offers excellent opportunities for boating, water skiing, canoeing, windsurfing and sailing. Anglers enjoy casting for rainbow trout, coho salmon, smallmouth bass and perch. A boat ramp is located within the campground. Many hiking and biking trails are in the area as well.

This location is available on a first-come, first-served basis only. Visitors are required to physically arrive at the campground to purchase and claim a site. Once on-site, you may be able to pay for your campsite(s) by scanning a QR code using the Recreation.gov mobile app, and the Scan and Pay feature.__ If this option is available, you will need to first download the free Recreation.gov mobile app https://www.recreation.gov/mobile-app prior to your arrival as some remote areas have limited or no cellular service.

A boat ramp is located about 2 miles away at Cozy Cove Campground.Many trails for hiking, mountain biking, horseback and off-road vehicle riding are in the area.

      Eastside Campground is located on the shores of scenic Sagehen Reservoir at an elevation of 4,956 feet. Visitors enjoy boating, fishing and exploring the non-motorized Sagehen Reservoir Trail.

There is a 15 mph speed limit on the reservoir. Hiking, biking, horse, and ATV trails are abundant in the area. The non-motorized Sagehen Reservoir Trail, a 4-mile loop around the lake, offers great fishing spots, beautiful viewpoints, and wildlife watching opportunities for hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders. The Sagehen and KYAOTT ATV Trail Systems can be accessed near the reservoir, offering more than 35 miles of trails for ATVs and motorcycles, but hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders can enjoy these trails as well.

      Located on the west side of Lake Cascade, there are three large yurts in a common area. Two are on one deck and the third is on a separate deck. This camp is designed to accommodate groups up to 30 people. Available Sleeping Bluebird(20’) has 1 single/ single bunk bed, 1 single/double bunk bed,& 1 double futon couch-bed. Sleeps(7) Appaloosa(24’) has 1 single/ single bunk bed, 2 single/ double bunk beds, 2 double futon couch-beds. Sleeps(12) Syringa(24’) has 3 single/double bunk beds, 1 double futon couch-bed. Sleeps(11) Each yurt has a cook table, a dining table, folding chairs, a two burner Coleman cook stove and two Coleman lanterns. Renters need to supply their own propane canisters. We recommend one(1) canister per appliance/day.(A stove with both burners on will burn for 1-4 hours on one canister; a lantern on full will burn for 6 hours). You will need to bring... Food/Drinks/Condiments Paper towels Dishcloths/Soap Pots/Pans/Dishes Cooking/Eating Utensils Personal Items Bedding/Pillows Flashlight Insect/Sun protection Soap/Hand sanitizer Propane Canisters Matches Provided Vault toilets. Drinking water is located at the outside faucet on the eastside of the well house. Picnic tables and a large fire ring(except in the winter). Vault toilets for gray water disposal(dish water). All motorized vehicles require a(MVEF) fee of$7.00 or an Idaho State Parks Passport sticker or IDPR Annual Pass. Cancellation Policy Cancellations that occur twenty-one(21) or fewer calendar days prior to arrival, will be assessed a cancellation fee equal to the first night(base rate). Cancellations that occur more than twenty-one(21) calendar days prior to arrival will be assessed a cancellation fee of fifty dollars($50.00). Check-out: 12:00 pm Check-in: 3:00 pm Day use hours are 7:00 am to 10:00 pm. Winter Heating Each yurt has a wood burning stove. Firewood is available to purchase for$8.00 per level wheelbarrow load. The stoves will accommodate wood up to 12” long. Longer pieces of wood do not fit correctly in the fire box and may break the glass in the stove door. No Electricity or Telephones. Some cell phones may work, but you will want to check yours before counting on it.
