Rainbow Point

With direct access to Cascade Lake, Rainbow Point accommodates both RV campers and tent enthusiasts in the Payette National Forest. The campground operates from late May through mid-September, with sites that can handle rigs up to 45 feet. Several pull-through sites make maneuvering larger RVs manageable, while the boat launch provides water access for fishing and swimming activities.

Sites spread across grassy terrain with fire rings and picnic tables at each spot. "The sites are spaced far apart and very spacious," notes Heidi C., who also mentions the campground host maintains clean facilities. Site #7 backs directly to a large beach area. Vault toilets and drinking water serve the campground, along with a dump station for RV waste disposal.

The location puts campers within minutes of Tamarack Resort and close to both Donnelly and McCall for supplies. Wildlife encounters occur regularly—skunks have been spotted walking through campsites. Lake conditions can vary, so campers should check water safety before swimming or allowing pets in the water. Nearby options include Amanita just 0.2 miles south and Huckleberry Campground half a mile northeast.

The campground works well for families wanting lake access and RV travelers needing full hookups in a forested setting.

Visitors often highlighted the spacious grassy sites and good amenities including clean toilets and water access. Many appreciated the proximity to the lake and nearby attractions, though some noted limited privacy between sites and occasional boat noise.

Simple Spot

Sites are all fairly close together with not a lot of privacy. The lake is beautiful, but expect noise from boats. The vault toilets were clean.

Good camping close to Town.

Good camping close to Town, mountain biking, restaurants, and lake. Be cautious about lake conditions before swimming or letting dogs swim. We had a skunk walk right through or camp!

Quiet, spacious campground

The sites are spaced far apart and very spacious. Campground host is great and the campground is clean. There are a few pull throughs which make it easy for RVs. The beach at the lake is lovely. Site #7 backs up to a large beach area. The campground is convenient to Donnelly and McCall, and quite close to Tamarack Resort (7 minutes), if you are riding there. In fact all the State Park campgrounds in this part of the lake are very convenient to Tamarack. We enjoyed our quiet stay here!

Great campground

Close to the water, very chilly at the end of the season. Glad to have toilets and water.

Open and grassy campsites

Nice grassy sites, water right there, vault toilets, fire rings and picnic tables, tent camping or RVs. Not a lot of shade but cools down nice at night. Lots to do nearby!
