Bootjack - Dispersed Camping

Very nice, road has some deeper ruts coming in but managed (barely) with our 32 foot class C and rough road is very short distance before it levels out. We found a pull through site that offered many parking options and had a fire pit a short distance in. Very quiet, enough people around to few safe but spaced out so you still have your seclusion. Site is huge with some trees to help with privacy but not hindering internet connection - starlink had no trouble and full bars with Verizon.

Very easy to access. Close to West Yellowstone free dry camping.

It’s late March and all the forest roads are closed as well as the public campgrounds. Very off season. Luckily this pace is near the main road and there wasn’t a lot of snow. Be careful if this place is too wet, I could easily see people getting stuck in bad conditions. It’s working out perfectly for us because we’re just here for late afternoon and evening before heading into Yellowstone Park.

Came in around 6pm on a Sunday. As we first pulled off of 20 onto Bootjack Dr, there were swarms of bugs on the road and through the pasture so we drove to the end of the road to the “Henry’s Lake Outlet” where there was a private gate with no trespassing signs and minimal bugs. However, there were tons of daddy long legs all over the ground. We did lay our mat out and only had a couple crawl across it. There was a turn around here and a fire pit with good access to the water. There were occasional residents going in and out of the gate throughout the night, but it was nice.

There are plenty of camping areas. Spacious, out site had a fire ring and boots of trees.

After spending a weekend in Yellowstone- this is an awesome spot to rest before the rest of our Journey to SLC - wide open spaces -with Lush green grass and trees - by going a little deeper into the area we found an open spot so that we could get Starlink. Fairly good roads even without 4x4 our 34 ft sprinter van was fine.

No fee dispersed camping. Once you turn from Hwy 20, bootjack dr. Is first dirt road the right (check google maps) it's not straight like dyrt app shows. It's pretty dark at night and seems a bit scary but it actually pretty nice if you get there with light. Plenty of space to park, no hookups, water or restroom.

A good amount of dispersed areas here. All the areas in the open meadow area closer by the road was occupied. We choose a dead end road and had the area all to ourselves. Had to back up the road about 200 feet because there was no turn around for the size of our rig (36 foot 5th wheel). But it is doable.

A lot of boondocking opportunities in that area. Must of the spots in the open meadow area were full. Therefore, we went with this spot up a dead end road. With the size of r rig 36 foot Solltude I had to back up the road about 200 feet. Road in was a little rough but we managed.

This is a beautiful place with several campsites. Lots of trees and decent weather even in July.

I stayed here one night and loved it. Im a solo female traveler and felt super safe which is important to me. There are quite a few surrounding campers, but not to the point where it feels overcrowded. I had great service with Verizon. If you put “Howard springs picnic site” on your gps you can drive 8 minutes on 20E and there are vault toilets with fresh, crisp spring water. Would definitely stay again if I pass through

There are two bootjack dispersed entries on thedyrt, this location is the one to use! We used the coordinates for the other and it did not take us to the correct place. I’d suggest looking on satellite view for directions.

This was a nice, quiet site at which we were able to find a spot at 8pm. Would recommend!

These spots all look great, but it’s May and the snow piles on the sides of the road keep you from accessing any of the trails for camping. Unfortunately we got here late in the day and don’t have anywhere to sleep. I hope this review helps to keep people from being in the situation we’re in now :(
