The main road handles big rigs without difficulty, though campers should scout the terrain before committing to sites deeper in the woods where ruts develop after rain. Four separate access roads branch off from Bootjack Drive, each leading to different camping clusters. Sites closest to the creek offer fishing access but can turn muddy during wet weather, while elevated spots near the trees stay drier. Erin H. warns that "if you park down by the creek, watch the weather" due to softening ground conditions.
Local ATV traffic and anglers use the area regularly, particularly on weekends, creating moderate activity levels rather than complete isolation. Verizon provides strong 4G coverage with three to four bars throughout most sites. The 14-day camping limit exists but enforcement appears relaxed, with some seasonal campers establishing longer stays. Cattle graze on private land across the creek, adding to the working ranch atmosphere. For additional camping infrastructure, Henry's Lake State Park Campground sits less than a mile east with dump stations and water refill options.
