Laundry facilities are available at select locations, and proximity to Augusta provides convenient access to shopping, restaurants, and fuel.

      Mistletoe State Park Campground

Gorgeous and Tranquil in the Woods

This place was so perfect and our first camping experience with our new 40 foot RV! Check-in was easy and they even let us change to a pull-through site last minute. The grounds were sooooo gorgeous! Trees everywhere. Walking trails. And of course the lake. We went during fall colors so it was really magical.

PROS: Clean restrooms, spacious RV sites (they felt very private), many bathhouses within walking distance, friendly staff, nice gift shop

CONS: wet firewood and of course you had to buy from them, playground very small- made more for toddlers/preschool age, less than 5 years old, long walk to the dumpsters

Petersburg - J Strom Thurmond Lake

      Beautiful campsites

This campground has magnificent views, spacious sites, picnic tables, firepits, power (30 and 50 amp) and water hookups, dump station, bathrooms, and groomed swimming area.

The site (21) was very easy to pull through and had a wonderful view of the lake. I had to try to see my neighbors at the next site because the foliage separated the sites well. I saw a grounds person actively maintaining the empty sites which explains how well kept this campground is. The access roads are well kept.

      Very nice place !

This place has some great sites. Our site was #25. It was a pull through with 30 and 50 amp plugs. It’s a level lot with a grill, fire ring, picnic table and another small table. It’s right on the lake. There is a retaining wall at the water so it’s about a 3” step to the water. We plan to bring a sep ladder next time. Beautiful place to spend your time camping.

      Hamilton Branch State Park Campground

Great spacious site on the water, lots of privacy

We arrived at last light, and I am glad that we had daylight while we backed in. Lovely site, spacious. Sites 98 & 99  T off the connector road. Layout it such that your RV is parallel to the road, overlooking the water which is 80- 100 feet away. Your neighbors are a fair distance away, but your head and tail of the RV points to them- so once inside you're not even aware of them. We are 30 foot fifth wheel with F250, and i imagine the back-in would have been more challenging if 99 was occupied.  Nice family oriented park. Water and electric all good, dump station on way out.

Did not use facilities, but apparently showers and toilets are a little drive away.

Wood: We drove out of the park, turned left and found an honor-system wood kiosk on parallel road - just over the railroad tracks. $5 for a small bundle, but it was worth it to us.

      Leveling was not an issue.

Hosts keep site nice and clean,

Data: Visible worked great (25 mbs up & down, so no need to break out hotspots, Starlink etc

      Boss RV Park

      A very nice campground

The sites are mostly gravel with areas of dirt, but mine was level. I was near the bath house and laundry which were both clean and well maintained. The population looks like a mix of mostly long-term residents, with a few mid to short-term. It is a full hookup facility, and all my connections worked well.

      Aiken State Park Campground

      Amazing Find!

We stayed over on our way to Charleston, SC. We booked it online. We had no hookeups, but water and a dump station is available. There are hiking trails, canoeing, and fishing. The ranger was super friendly and they are pet friendly. We had to switch sites when we arrived due to a space issue. We have a 32’ RV and the site stated a max of 35’ but there was a tent pad that would have interfered with us being level. We were allowed to switch with no issues.

Another great COE campground We love this place

This time we’re in site 7-first time in this loop. Backing in took a few minutes, not the simplest but achievable for our 30 ft fifth wheel. Campsite excellent- electric & water, plenty big site-fire ring and picnic table

Also love trail from here to dam wall - did a bit of bush trail cycling. Awesome

    What to do

Lake activities: Pointes West Army Resort offers direct access to Clarks Hill Lake where visitors can swim, fish, and boat. "We stayed in the primitive camping area with our adventure trailer. Right on the water, it was a great site," notes one camper, though they warn "ants can be a huge problem during the summer."

Walking trails: Several parks offer designated walking paths around their grounds. At Warthen RV Park, campers enjoy "huge fields and beautiful trees" with one visitor commenting, "The serenity of the area... The air is just different. I find great peace here."

Flea market browsing: Some campgrounds provide easy access to local shopping. At Barnyard RV Park, the location "behind the flea market" offers a convenient opportunity for treasure hunting, with a camper noting it has "good weekly deals" for those staying longer.

    What campers like

Quiet settings: Many RV parks in the region provide peaceful environments away from highway noise. Carolina Hill Mobile Home and RV Park receives praise for having "zero road noise, large sites, shade trees and laundry room," with one camper stating "I absolutely LOVE it here!"

Helpful staff: Campground hosts frequently receive positive mentions in reviews. At Sanwar RV Resort, guests appreciate that "the people in charge are just excellent and polite" and "the manager and receptionist are friendly and responsive to any questions you may have."

Swimming options: Some parks offer swimming facilities, particularly valuable during hot summer months. Sanwar RV Resort gets high marks for its "WONDERFUL" pools with one senior camper sharing, "we, even as old, LOVED the lazy river."

    What you should know

Seasonal closures: Some campgrounds limit access during certain periods. At Pointes West Army Resort, a visitor noted "As of August 2020, Primitive Camping and Semi-Hookup Camping areas are closed... RV Camping is open, for local traffic only. RVs must contain a restroom. No visitors."

Planned activities: Some resorts organize regular social events. Sanwar RV Resort offers "tavern, bingo, Saturday's live music" which one visitor found "all so good and fun," providing structured entertainment options for families.

    Tips from RVers

Site accessibility: Pay attention to the type of sites available when booking. Plum Branch RV Park has "newish pad was still soft but pretty level. Sewer pipes stick out a good 6 or 8 inches. Electric posts are new but have a meter right below plugs, so surge suppressor gets to hang sideways."

Connectivity: Cell service and WiFi quality vary significantly between parks. At Plum Branch RV Park, one RVer detailed signal strengths with multiple carriers: "Verizon: 44.9dn, 1.88 up" and "T-mobile mifi: no 4G nor 5G service," important information for remote workers.

Long-term options: Some parks cater to extended stays. Warthen RV Park has hosted returning campers for multiple seasons, with one noting "My daughter and I have stayed here the last 3 summers. It's officially a must for our summer camp trips."
