    Surprisingly lovely

We had to stay in the area for a few nights and didn’t know what to expect, but when we rolled into the RV park we were so pleasantly surprised. It’s wel maintained, big, and even has a lovely duck pond on the property.

The sites are evenly spaced, gravel, and level. All pull through a with full hook up. The check in was super easy. The location is right off the main road so it’s super accessible. Wish it were a little less noisy, you can hear traffic.

All in all, a nice place.

    Level & spacious pull through

We needed a one night stop & this was perfect. Made our reservations online the day before. Host called me the next morning to confirm arrival time. Hosts were very kind, and escorted us to our site. Site was big, level, and pull through with full hookups. Long term rigs were kept pretty clean as I could tell. We didn’t use any facilities so have no comment on those.

    Quite park, great staff

We spent the weekend at the park and it was nice. We had a well shaded place and level. Site included power, water and electric... Full hook ups were all taken. Bathroom facilities were nice also. Due to the Covid19 the pool wasn't open or even started to be cleaned since the county won't allow it at this time. We took a ride to veterans state park to the lake and rode the kayaks which were really nice, and the beach area was nice. Once the pool opens, I can see quite a few trips back to the koa.

P.S. don't let the exit fool you... It was very quiet there even though it was close to the interstate and the exit is deserted.

    Sugar Mill Plantation RV Park

    Basic, decent for overnight

This is a review of Sugar Mill RV Park in Ochlocknee, GA which is in south Georgia off US Hwy 19 near the Florida state line. Other reviews seem to be for a north Georgia park which is not this one.

There is no tent camping at this park.

Overnight stay in a 38' class A. Selected site 26, no online reservations, sites assigned at arrival. Very flexible on checkout time. Site was dirt/grass, FHU, 50 amp, relatively level. Hookups we're in acceptable shape, office staff(Nancy?) was very nice. Our site had some trash and charcoal left by prior guest(looks like they tried to burn) which we cleaned up. Grounds are fairly well kept. Lots of longer term/perm residents. We couldn't pick up campground wifi nor was there cable. Road noise from US 19 as expected since park borders the highway but not too bad overnight. Bugs as expected in south Georgia in May. Fairly basic campground(they do have laundry, bathrooms, showers none of which we used) but priced right. We paid $30 for a night which included the Good Sam discount. Would stay again for overnight

    Great location, Awesome overnight

We stopped here in May of 2020 enroute to leaving Florida. The location was the perfect stopping point for overnighting. It is located close to I-75 so very easy to get off the highway and back on in the morning.

The Park: 100 very level sites, full hook ups, easy to get in and out of. Plenty of space for big rigs. They have WiFi too! They had public restrooms and shower houses at the office. The park is really pretty, very clean. Most sites were pull through sites.

The owner and staff were very kind! We occasional heard traffic and thought we heard 1 train at night. We really enjoyed our stay and we will stay again.

Due to the virus we are not using public restrooms at this time so I don’t have any photos of them.

    Chehaw Park Campground

    So much potential...

A little background: I used to live five minutes from this park, and it used to be the first campground we visited every year to work out all the gear details. Back then (2012-2015), it was great! Absolutely beautiful, well maintained, gorgeous.

Now... the park itself is still great. Obviously it was hit by a hurricane, but the cleanup and improvements are coming along in those areas. They playground has always been amazing and they’ve added a Splash Pad right next to it. (We were in town to visit family so we didn’t get to enjoy those this time).

But y’all are here for a campground review, so here it is.

Registration. You cannot register online, you must do it on the phone or in person. All of the sites with full hook-ups are taken by long-term folks (probably staying there while their homes are being rebuilt from the tornadoes and hurricane?), so they are $20 a night for water/electric. When you register over the phone, you are charged an additional $15 fee. (When I checked in, they said I would receive a refund of that $15 as a check in the mail...?). When I called the day of check-in to get the gate code, they had no idea who I was and initially wanted me to pay for a site, again. After some shuffling they finally found my paperwork.

The tent-only side still looks fine. Plush grass, large spaced out sites.

However, the RV side looks a bit rough. The sites are no longer gravel, just dirt (or, this weekend, mud) and some grass. The sites aren’t maintained between campers (as I got a half burned log, empty pack of smokes, and paper plates in mine). I was actually placed on site 7, which on the campground map is NOT a “buddy” (shared) site, and told to just plug into the same pole as the guy on Actual Site 7. Thankfully he was 50A and I was 30A so it worked out. (Although oddly enough, several full sites remained empty the whole time I was there). It rained most of the weekend, and everything was covered in wet dirt chunks when I left.

The bath house... could use a little love and a fresh coat of paint. If you can avoid the side bathrooms (maybe handicapped? The ones with just a toilet and shower), then do so. Aside from teeming with flying wildlife (which, it’s South Georgia, you have to kind of expect that), it could have used a good cleaning. The regular restrooms were passable (better than some gas stations but not as clean as state/national park I usually visit).

I understand that the area was impacted by a hurricane last year... but a little bit of cleanliness and care goes a long way.

    Cecil Bay RV Park

    4.2 stars

Reserved a spot for the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving via email a few weeks in advance, but could have booked same day as many sites were available. The owner is very friendly and accommodating, and let us leave payment when we got there late. We were able to choose any site that was open (there was no map and they didn't seem to be numbered). The gravel/dirt site we chose is level and full hookup. The best part about it was is how large it is- twice the size of most roadside rv parks. It was also nice to have a pecan tree between each site for a bit of shade and privacy. There are no amenities to speak of, and the highway noise is significant (though we slept fine). The price is 10 bucks less per night than the competition, and seems fair for what you get. We will stop here again.

    River Park RV Park

    Bad vibes and pot holes!

Stayed here over Fourth of July the camp sites are spaced no more than 10 feet away you can touch your neighbors. No one is friendly here. I waved at one of the grounds keepers and he stared at me blankly. I went into the office to drop off my check and I think I heard the owner hit his lil dog for barking when we walked in and he was in a rush to get rid of me. Nothing like the other wonderful campsites we stayed at on our drive across America. It looks like lots of people stay here long term and have very permanent looking residences around their RVs and campers it is really close off of the freeway but there is nothing special I would pass this place by and stay at another campsite which is exactly what will be doing in about an hour.

    Spring Creek City Park

    Good break from the road

Decent little RV Park for just pulling off the road for a break. It’s well kept and has 7 spots for Water/Electric hookups, and 9 spots for regular vehicles. A few picnic tables. NO BATHROOMS, but it’s right next to a Shell gas station.

Kind of looks like an abandoned parking lot so try not to pass it, because there is not sign either. The playground/city park is behind the rv park.

Smaller KOA but a nice stop for a nightu

We have stayed at this KOA many times it has full hook up, 2 lakes (you can fish). We rented a golf cart for $5.00 for 3 hours and drove to the lakes and fished. The pool is always refreshing and clean. We take our noodles and float in the pool. The new owner has done a great job. We had wings and pizza delivered from the office it was a good dinner. They had a free breakfast in the morning we had the sausage gravy over biscuits. The price is good for a KOA, and close to the interstate yet enough off it to not hear traffic. There is a flying J or Pilot at the exit makes it easy for gassing up.

We don't use the bathrooms so I can't speak to how they are but we like this campground. Others said they were very clean.

We will stop here again this was our 3rd time here.

    Sugar Mill Plantation RV Park

Great price, pretty area in the northern GA mountains

While Sugar Mill is titled as an RV Park, they accommodate tent camping as well. There is a general store in the office for any forgotten items, and electrical/water hookups if desired. The lady who owns and runs the place is very personable and sweet, and the bubbling stream behind our campsite was lovely and made this place even prettier.

    Reed Bingham State Park Campground

    Lots of Lake activities

Reed Bingham State Park is located in Adel, GA. It has about 1600 acres including a 375 acre lake with many activities surrounding it. There is a dam with fishing as well as boating, swim beach and and island for camping. Off the lake are 2 camping loops with just under 50 sites. Ranging from water/electric only to full hook-ups. Prices run between $28 and $38 per night. There is also primitive group camping and Eagle Island camping in the lake if you wish to paddle over. Our family stayed here in December 2016 with friends. We were lucky enough to get 2 standard sites side by side so we could create a cozy awning to awning camp area for our families. The bathrooms and laundry were nearby (1 in each loop). There was a large grassy area in the middle of the loop for the kids to play soccer, set up the slack-line, etc. They also enjoyed the playground, climbing tree and mini-golf nearby. We went on some short hikes in the park. There are 7 walking and biking multi-use trails that are all under 1 mile. You can connect them together for a much longer hike. Overall, this was a great family friendly campground.

Ranger Review: OOFOS Shoes at Cordele KOA

Ranger Review: OOFOS shoes at Cordele KOA Journey

    Campground Review:

Right off I75 in Georgia sits a small KOA with TONS of amenities! Being just a block off the interstate I assumed it would be noisy. But all the trees make a great sound barrier and we had a nice quiet weekend and will definitely be back!

This campground accommodates Campers, with spaces up to 90 foot long! (up to 50 amp), Tents, and even offers Cabin Rental! Has a pool, propane fill station, firewood to purchase, laundry room and updated bathhouse. a dog area, wifi and even offers cable, for the people who like to camp inside 😉

Our weekend cost was about $70 for out tent site, there were a few people staying in a camper long term who mentioned they do offer reduced rates. I didn’t get to check on the cabins, but they look super cute from the outside and run $50 a night if you book online.

Nearby attractions (we did not visit) include Lake Blackshear, a manmade lake, with a really cool dam, and Georgia Veterans State Park on one side. They have a marina and beach. And The Andersonville National Historic Site the location of a Confederate prison where 13,000 Union soldiers died.

    Product review: OOFOS SHOE

As a Dyrt Ranger I was privileged to get a major discount on an awesome pair of OOFOS shoes.

I'm telling you now, this is the most comfortable thing I've ever put on my feet! It's like walking on pillows every step you take! I have arthritis in both my knees and have been having some trouble lately. The day my shoes got here I was eager to try them on, and once I did, they didnt come off the rest of the night! They help with the pain of walking, and my knees havent hurt in a week. I'm in love!

    https://www.oofos.com/collections/men/products/mens-oomg-low-shoe-white-gray

They're made of a really squishy, super lightweight foam. And have a breathable mesh top. I ordered the light gray color, and love the tiny pop of lime green in the logo and little tag to help pull them on. I was hesitant when I seen they had no laces and the rubber strap on top was fixed. But i had no problems getting them on, the mesh is stretchy and my foot slid right in!

My only complaint is that small rocks get stuck in the bottom of the shoe, in the middle tread. But, they're easy to pop out.

They also offer flip flops too, so that will be my next purchase. OOFOS will be my go to shoes from now on!

Use my link for 10% off your purchase!

    Tifton RV Park I-75

Decent place for a night or two

This campground is a decent place to stay for a night or two. It is very close to I75 (1.1 mile) making it easy on and off. We came in pretty late at night, around 10pm, and the staff had everything we needed to get to our site posted on a bulletin board for us. As we pulled into our site they actually pulled up and welcomed us. Very nice.

The campground is a little too "on the beaten path" for my taste but my wife had work to do and needed either good cell data, or better yet, good WIFI. I can say the WiFi was excellent. Often places (including hotels) will advertise free WiFi and you're lucky to be able to download an email. Here my wife was able to video conference and we were able to stream movies without issue.

We have full hook up with a shower and bathroom so I have no idea how the bathrooms are. They offer free breakfast but my wife wasn't willing to risk Covid because no one was spaced out or wearing masks. Hopefully in the not very distant future that will be a non-issue.

Easy to get to from I-75

Safe campground with RV spaces that well spaced apart. Very quiet spot with level pull-through sites that have power, water, and sewer. There are also cabins available to rent but they do look a little questionable.  The bathhouse was very clean which was nice. Only would recommend this spot for campers.

For activities, there is a pool (looked it rough shape), park area, fishing pond, and trails for walking.

    Carroll's Country Sausage

    Unique Overnighter

Carroll's Sausage and Country Store RV Park is easy to get to right off Interstate 75 at exit 82.  The campground (CG) has 20 first-come-first-serve 50/30 AMP FHU sites that are all pull through.  The CG area is huge and has lots of room to walk your dogs.  The sites are close but not too close together.  You are right off I-75 so there is a lot of traffic noise, but the noise dies down some the farther you go back from the highway.  Try to arrive early to get one of the sites further away from the interstate. We saw several arriving around noon. The sites are $40 per night but you do get a $10 store credit voucher to shop in their very cool meat market.

    MCLB Albany RV Park

    Good layover

Site was clean and maintained. Full hookups (water/electric/sewer/with cable/antenna). We were in lot #1 which was a pull through that could have taken a rig twice our size (30 foot TT). Only two issues, no shade trees and mosquito's up the gazoo!

    Must be DOD to stay.

    Now One of Our Favs

Our RV GPS and WAZE took us right to the campground(CG). There’s plenty of space to park in front of the clubhouse where you check-in. We were then escorted to pull through site 6 with FHUs for our six-day stay. Our daily fee of$46 consisted of discounts from Passport America at 50% off for 3 days and then a 10% Good Sam discount. The CG had a mixture of permanent, seasonal, transient, and short-termers like us. We stayed here last year at about the same time in early January and really enjoyed ourselves, so we decided to stay longer. Water pressure is around 60 psi here, and we got quite a few OTA channels. There are a few trees in the CG, but we were able to get a good shot for our Starlink. The CG WiFi was okay but glad we had our Starlink. We got two bars on Verizon. The sites are adequately spaced with 6 being one of the better sites. The sites are gravel with a picnic table, standup bbq(in most sites, including ours), and a fire pit. We did not have a fire pit, but we could have fetched one out of an empty site. There’s a pool and laundry attached to the clubhouse. This is a no-frills campground, but there are plans to take out the driving range and put in upgraded RV sites. The clubhouse’s Fire Ant Grill has decent food. We tried their basic cheeseburger and the green olive sauce burger that is based on an old Michigan A&W Root Beer recipe. Both were delicious. Groceries at Dollar General are cheaper than Piggly Wiggly. Katz Veterinary is a good place for basic vet needs. We enjoyed our stay and had fun playing their 9-hole course.

    Nice park!

Stayed here 2 nights in a pull through site (#5) and we were happy. The site didn’t have much shade but we used our awning and it was fine. The sites are fairly large. All have picnic table. Our site had water and 30amp electric but Loop 2 has full hookups.

The park has miniature golf, volley ball and hiking trails. Also there is a big lake if you have a boat. All in all it was a nice stay.

    Reed Bingham State Park Campground

    Peaceful place in the country

We’ve stayed at Reed Bigham twice and have enjoyed it both times. It is a very large park on a reservoir that is divided by the Little River. There is a public beach and numerous shady picnic sites and shelters. We stayed in loop one which features water and electric while loop 2 has 50 amp full hookup sites. They also have a mini golf course. The campground is a gopher tortoise preserve and there are several nests in the campground Our site has a resident tortoise that has his burrow under one of the landscape timbers. The restrooms are clean but have seen a lot of use and need updating

    Great for passing through

Really quiet, Showers in bathrooms on-site. Gated in area so theres the benefit of added security. I wouldn't get full hookups, just get the standard to save a few bucks cuz theres a dump station you can use for free 😉

This campground was great for our stop overnight. We had full hookups and enjoyed the complimentary breakfast of pancakes, waffles, orange juice and coffee. The management was very nice and helpful. They have a nice pool and playground for the children. There was also ponds for fishing.

Nice quiet and not far off I-75

Quiet state park with full hookups, power & water and grassy tent sites. Gopher turtle reserve with great hiking trails. 2 shower houses, mini golf and canoe rentals on lake. Fishing with state license. Walmart, McDonalds, Burger king and sit-down resturants in town (about 7 miles).

    River Park RV Park

    Visiting family

We chose this park because it was close to family we were visiting.

    Pros:

    Full hookups

    Laundry mat

    Showers

    Dog park

    Close to interstate

    Cons:

    Uneven sites

    Very close together

Tiny concrete pad, very little grass

No picnic table or fire ring

If you sit outside, your just looking at the side of the RV right next to you.

Lots of fulltimers with pretty rundown sites

Overly concerned about the grass while letting the rest of the park run down

Nothing worth getting pics of here

We will try a different park when we go back.
