Reed Bingham State Park Campground provides pet-friendly camping with various accommodation options including tent sites, RV spots, and cabins. Pets are allowed throughout the 375-acre park with proper leash control, giving owners plenty of space to exercise their animals. Chehaw Park Campground offers similar pet-friendly policies with the added benefit of extensive walking trails where leashed pets can accompany their owners. Creekside RV Park welcomes pets with designated areas for relief and waste disposal. Most campgrounds in the region maintain standard pet policies requiring leashes no longer than 6 feet, proof of vaccinations, and proper waste cleanup. Albany RV Resort maintains clean, spacious sites with concrete pads that provide stable footing for pets, particularly beneficial during rainy weather.

Hiking trails throughout the Doerun area campgrounds provide excellent exercise opportunities for dogs, with Reed Bingham's nature trails offering wildlife viewing potential. Pet owners should be aware of local wildlife including alligators near water bodies, especially at Reed Bingham State Park which features a 375-acre lake. Summer temperatures in southern Georgia frequently exceed 90°F, requiring extra water and shade considerations for pets. Most campgrounds enforce quiet hours that apply to barking dogs, with excessive noise potentially resulting in removal without refund. The closest emergency veterinary services are located in Albany, approximately 30 minutes from most Doerun area campgrounds. Chehaw Park Campground's unique feature includes a small zoo where pets aren't allowed, but the extensive network of walking trails compensates with plenty of pet exercise options.

      KOA Americus

      Gnats! And frogs

We stayed at the Americus KOA while completing our Canyon Challenge in Georgia. Right outside Americus, GA the campground sites are an extension of the Brickyard Plantation Golf Club and surrounded by the disc golf course.

This summer I had gotten a KOA membership to try it out. Of the KOA’s I stayed in this was by far one of the more spacious ones. I don’t know if it had any larger of an area but the openness of the golf course and surrounding area made it feel much bigger then the others ones I’ve visited. There were plenty of options to walk along the sides of the camping area and on the golf course. The dog park was a small area not really worth taking the dogs off their leads. But there were poo bags if you forgot yours;) Several water areas which I was leery of because of possible snakes. ( and yea I wondered about alligators, lol)

It was not lacking in wildlife! The cute tree frogs were everywhere. Bring your gnat repellent!!! They were horrible. Aside from the annoyance factor I guess it was better then mosquitoes. If you have a screen tent definitely pack it for this trip. In addition the coyotes came through the area , setting my dogs off at about 2 am the first night. There was “something” crying pitifully our second night there. I could not decide if it was a “cat” or possibly a baby raccoon, we did not go looking for it.

The nearby town had the street names of Lee, Jackson and Cotton to name a few and I didn’t really find anything exceptional to bring me back.

We placed our tent on the gravelled square at our site and hung the hammock. The showerhouse and laundry were within 25 feet of our site. The office was about 100 ft away and a community building with kitchen was about 25 ft from us. Very quiet area (aside from the wildlife) other campers mostly stayed inside their RVs.

      Love's RV Stop-Cordele GA 801

      Cute RV stop

Check in through the Loves app or onsite Kiosk. We tried to call ahead and pay cash onsite. The cashiers worked it out but apparently they aren’t set up to take cash reservations. We checked in late at night, which was a plus for our flexible travel plans. The campground is separated from the truck stop by a fence. Fire pit at your site and a communal one that’s open until midnight. Splash pad, dog park, pickle ball court, and 2 pavilions with grills. It’s actually a really cute site to be attached to a truck stop! It’s walking distance to Loves for necessities. Site 2 is near the office/dog park. Pull through sites and back in. Nice and level on concrete.

      River Park RV Park

      Visiting family

We chose this park because it was close to family we were visiting.

      Pros:

      Full hookups

      Laundry mat

      Showers

      Dog park

      Close to interstate

      Cons:

      Uneven sites

      Very close together

Tiny concrete pad, very little grass

No picnic table or fire ring

If you sit outside, your just looking at the side of the RV right next to you.

Lots of fulltimers with pretty rundown sites

Overly concerned about the grass while letting the rest of the park run down

Nothing worth getting pics of here

We will try a different park when we go back.

      Tifton RV Park I-75

      Can’t beat this KOA Journey

I’m only staying one night at this KOA Journey in Tifton but from what I’ve seen you can’t beat it! Tons of amenities including a playground, bathrooms, dog park, 1 mile dog nature hike, large spread out spaces for well over a hundred rigs I’d guess. If you’re planning a trip down 75 through this area, I highly recommend this spot for a stay over or longer.

      KOA Americus

      Americus GA KOA

This is a really nice campground. The bathrooms are exceptionally clean! The tent sites have really nice raised tent platforms, with a picnic table and fire ring. The site light was bright and the electrical outlet came in handy. There was disc golf, golf, and a nice fenced dog park. Only thing that could have been better would be if the tent sites were spaced a little further apart!

      Love's RV Stop-Cordele GA 801

Loves is about to take over!!!!

First time at loves and loving it. Wi-Fi was good but we were the only ones there. Been open 3 weeks as of this review. 42 spots and very easy check in process. Do it from your phone or kiosk. Perfect for getting in and setting up no waiting on host or attendants. You must check in on phone or kiosk as the electric post are Wi-Fi connected and will not work without a reservation or check-in for that date. Once checked in post with activate plugs for power. Splash and play area and dog park. New pickle ball court with rental equipment at kiosk. Spots are close and most of the pads are only 50-55ft long pull thru and back in available. Also has a dog wash booth just outside the campground.

      Love's RV Stop-Cordele GA 801

      Great Short Stay Campground

This review is written from a short-stay campground (CG) perspective versus a destination location. RV GPS took us right to the Loves Travel Stop from I-75. The Love’s Travel Stop is adjacent to the truck area exit. We used the gate code provided in the email and proceeded to back-in site 23 at the far end of the CG. Back-in was easy and the utilities were towards the back of the cement pad. The 50 amp electric worked great including not going out during the severe thunderstorms we experienced during our overnight stay. The water pressure was good at around 51 psi. We chose site 23 as it has a little yard and is a bit separated from the campsite on our door/passenger side. Site 24 was very close to our utilities side. There was grass and a fire pit barbecue at the rear of both sites 23 and 24. There’s a picnic table that could have been moved over to site 23 from 24. The pull-through sites are very close together and do not have a picnic table or a fire pit. There are back-in sites of various lengths around the back fence line with covered picnic table patios that overlook a field. There are also back-in sites at the front of the CG that back up to the Loves truck parking area. There were a couple of decent yard sites there, but there would be more road and truck noise. At site 23, there were truck and occasional train noises, but not as bad as we expected. This little CG has all your amenities for a short stay. The building at the gate has showers, restrooms, laundry, ice, a beverage machine, and firewood. There was also a nice dog park with a side for large dogs and another for small dogs. They had a little splash park playground and a pickleball court. We got 4 bars LTE on Verizon. Currently, there are no mature trees near any of the sites, so satellite would not be a problem. Their Wifi worked okay. One side of the CG is adjacent to the Love’s truck and gas station and the opposite side has a pretty field with trees. We’ve stayed at several Loves RV Travel Stops, and this one was the nicest so far.

      Chehaw Park Campground

      Chehaw Stay

Spent only one night but wished we had stayed two.

      Very nice groomed grounds.

Zoo was more of a petting style as there were some goats, hogs, emu and a few others.

Bicycle rides were great. One road near the entrance will take you to a nice lake area that has a floating dock.

Verizon was decent and the is wifi available.
