Beautiful sunset by the water 🌅

Park was easy to get to. We were on site 1, a back in site. Sites were kinda close together, we heard a little more of our neighbors than we would have liked to. Campground was dog friendly and many were around. Bathrooms and laundry facilities were roomy and clean. The grill and fire pit were in good shape. We didn’t see a store for firewood and charcoal, so bring your own if you’ll need it. Although we didn’t use it, the grounds had a putt putt course that was available for guest use. The camp hosts were very kind.

Bring your fishing pole

Large sites with tall trees and plenty of shade. Easy check in with a friendly park ranger and also met the camp host who was also very nice. There is a big lake for boating and fishing and you can rent a small boat on site. The bathrooms and laundry room were clean but hot and muggy with just a couple of fans running. Not much else going on at this park. Down the road however is Providence Canyon SP and that is an absolute must if you are staying here. Providence Canyon has some great hiking and amazing views.

Memorial Day trip

We stayed here over Memorial day in order to visit nearby Providence Canyon. The sites were large and neighbors were not too close. We were close to the bathhouse which was a plus. The bathhouse was clean during our stay. The host was nice and gave out popsicles to the kids nightly. There was a putt putt course which we played on. It needed to be turfed and maintained better but we still had fun. There was a large building which looked nice from the outside available for rent for events. The park has a marina and boat ramp. I was able to put in my kayak and paddle around the lake. Swimming is not allowed due to the gators. Also you could not go on the Marina docks unless you had a boat and rented a slip. There was a very small dock near the campground area where you could fish or just watch the gators. There were some walking trails. One of them which lead out to a peninsula on the lake was very overgrown and appeared to have been used for a haunted trail at one time because there were props all in the woods on the trail. It also looked as if this was the site of the walk in camp sites at one point because there were campfire rings all along the trail with clears spots. However it was obvious these were not in current use. There really isn’t much to do here without a body. They do have a small store and bait shop at the park.

Eh...

Pros: if you have a boat; great Spanish moss hanging from trees. Clean large bathhouse with indoor washers and dryers. There is a recycling station for cans and bottles and a soda machine. A simple PuttPutt course is available for five bucks. The sites are well shaded.

Cons: Campground sites are small, and your rig backs up to your neighbor, so you have 15 feet between you and them. To the left and right is a neighbor as well with 25 feet between.

Zero LTE for Verizon users. Texts weren't even coming through. No phone calls were able to be made.

The hiking trail is abysmal. It is decorated year-round for Halloween, very odd, and isn't a loop.

There is no swimming here because of gators. If you are there in the summer months, it gets hot and muggy without any way to cool off.

Site 3 is on end, so you only have neighbors directly behind you and on one side.

Quiet State Park

Had a nice weekend at this small state park. The site was very clean with fire pit, picnic table, and full hook ups including cable. The fire pit had been cleaned out before we arrived which was a nice surprise. The bathhouse was centrally located and was spotless. It included an interior wash room and was heated which was appreciated on the chilly evenings. Plenty of hot water and good water pressure. Showers also had a separate changing area with plenty of shelves and hooks to keep clothes dry. Loved the recycling on site! The sites are pretty close to each other and because it’s located in a pine forest, there’s not much privacy but enough space to enjoy the patio. We’re glad we checked it out!

Camping off the grid

This is a beautiful campground. Very wooded, beautiful pine trees. Camp sites are spacious. Drawback was that some sites had alot of water on them and in them. Lots of low lying areas in the park and some campsites so, during rain it's gets very wet and can have alot of standing water. Bathrooms were very clean. Beautiful large lake on the property where you can fish, boat, canoe or kayak. They did have a couple of short walking trails. Cable service was accessible if you have a coax cord, cable was quite fuzzy on some channels. Cell service was extremely spotty so don't expect to get much in the way of cell or internet service here. Great place to camp and have lots of peace and quiet

Good place to camp if you want to hike Providence Canyon

We camped here for 2 nights in early March, so that we could hike Providence Canyon.  Campground and bathhouse are clean, but not much privacy.   We were facing two of our neighbors.   There is not a lot to do in the area except for Providence Canyon, and of course, if you have a boat, the lake at Florence Marina.  Poor cell service, but they do have full hook-ups.   Campground was quiet.

Great family friendly campground with lots of activities

Best place to camp if your planning to visit Providence Canyon. Campground is large with lots of amenities. On site marina with boat launch so bring your boat. The lake is gorgeous! Sites are well laid out but wide open to every one else. Not many that are very private. The campground has a miniature golf course on site for a fun time with the kids. Bath house are clean and well kept. Downside is other than walking the roads with in the park, not many nature trails. Dogs didn’t mind either way.

Nice campground and a perfect location to Providence Canyon

Stayed on a long pull- through site #9. Full hook-ups was a nice surprise. Sites are spacious, campground was full and it didn’t feel crowded. Nice park to take a walk l, you can rent a boat and I hear there’s some great fishing ( I’m not a fisherman). Stayed there to visit Providence Canyon. There’s two playgrounds, nothing special but my kids got a chance to play a bit and stretch after the drive. Cell service can be challenging, T-mobile was only Edge service ( remember that?) was able to stream video for my kids on AT&T and Verizon. My site was totally wooded and that could have contributed to the difficulty in cell service.

Nice Campground Close to the Canyon

Most campers come here to boat and fish.  Not us, we came to hike.  Drove 12 hours just to hike at Providence Canyon and it was worth the drive to see the Canyon and to stay at this relaxing park. It’s not a big park and there’s not a lot to do within the campground but it’s very peaceful.   Our site did have a lot of trash in the fire pit and the layout of the site and the large 5th wheel on the site behind us kept us from using the sewer hookup because it sits so far back in our site.  Overall I would definitely come back if we where in the area.

Close to Providence canyon

Great small campground. Site #20 was a large pull through. Full hookups. Some sites tend to flood. Camp is on lake George. This is a busy lake for motorized boats and fishing. I went kayaking on the lake. If you kayak across lake you are in alabama. Bathhouses were well kept and nice laundry facilities. This park has a full service marina. This park is about 9 miles to Providence canyon. There is a brewery close by but was closed due to covid. Campground was very well kept. Marina area and lake had a lot of trash and debris. Some of the trash along shore could have been from recent floods but the amount of trash I saw kayaking was extreme. Park has several fish cleaning stations and a lighter pier. There was also a floating dock at campground for fishing, launching kayaks.

Weekend Family Camping

We stayed here because of it’s close proximity to Providence Canyon State Park. The campsites are open with no buffer between campers. The restrooms were clean and signs up for Covid. There was ice and firewood available but bring cash. There is boating and canoeing in the marina. There is a putt putt course, but it is very dated. There are a few short trails available. We were the only pop-up. There were a few tents, but mostly RV campers. Watch out for those afternoon storms. They come in quick and the campsites flood easily. Would like to try the cabins next time.

Nice campground

We stayed in site # 16 it has full hook up. The park was busy it was Halloween they have a haunted boat ride and a hayride.  Great place to spend Halloween. It was decorated well and there was a fest going on we won a basket of goodies. We walked to the lake there were so many dragonflies it was cool. The birds were swooping up the dragonflies it was interesting to watch. We would go watch sunset at the lake funny our phones read Al. time not GA time.

We had a good time in the park you can kayak or rent a little boat it was cheap.  We rented a boat my husband fished and we drove around the lake. You can have a AL. or GA fishing license here the lake runs through both states. Lots of blooming Lilly's, big oaks with moss, shorebirds and gators.

Close to this park is Providence canyon which looks like a small Bryce canyon except it was created by poor farming. It's a neat place to see about 6 miles from the park. There's an old church there and some real old graves. There's a nice hike along the rim you can hike down in the canyon too.

Went into Eufaula to Antique and check out the town. The drive there and back is pretty.

Lakeside Camping for Fisherman

This park is located in the small town of Omaha, GA, you will need to plan your stay accordingly for supplies as there is no shopping available within a few miles. The town of Eufaula, AL is 20 miles away and Lumpkin, GA is about 16 miles away, these are the closest places to get supplies and food. This park is a great place to plan fishing activities on the Walter F. George Reservoir (Lake Eufaula). There is a well equipped marina for short and long term boat storage/docking and also includes fish cleaning stations on site. There is a boat launch area and the camp store is equipped for most of the fishing supplies you will need.

The camp ground is an improved campground which includes water, electric, sewer, tables and grills. The roads through the campground are paved with ample room for maneuvering all classes of RV’s without issues. The bath houses are very clean and well equipped. For detailed information you can visit the Park’s Website at https://gastateparks.org/FlorenceMarina. There are a few trails for hiking down by the waters edge but we didn’t use them during this stay.

The only negative we can offer is the area was very wet when we visited due to rain the days before. Many camp sites were not useable with visible water standing and the areas around the bath houses were also flooded.

One of Georgia's Hidden Gems!

We were looking for something to do this weekend and we decided to camp at Florence Marina State Park and explore Providence Canyon.

First off, Florence Marina is beautiful from the time you drive through the entrance to when you reach the campground! There's a boat ramp, fishing pier, a private fishing dock for campers and mini golf.

The campground is a bit small and some sites are close together but not too cramped. There is a camp store, located in the park, with many items that you may have forgotten to pack, as well as fish bait and fishing supplies!

The bath house (comfort station) appears to be recently renovated and is cleaned multiple times per day. The bath house has several showers, including ADA accessible shower stalls.

The campground host was constantly cleaning the bath house and picking up trash around the campground. The Ranger patrolled the campground on a regular basis, as did the Stewart County Sheriff's Office.

The only downside to our weekend camping trip was the gnats!! The campground host told us that the gnats aren't usually as bad, however, the recent heavy rain is the cause of them being so bad this particular weekend.

Other than the gnats, this is the perfect place to pitch a tent or set your travel trailer up!

Providence Canyon State Park is only 9 miles from Florence Marina and it is a must-see!! We spent Saturday morning hiking there before returning too our site.

FYI: There isn't much, as far as shopping goes, in the area so grab your groceries before you arrive! If you must go shopping, Eufala, AL is approximately 24 miles away and that is your closest large store (other than a Dollar General in Georgetown…approximately 16 miles from the park).

We have Verizon Wireless and we had 1-2 bars of LTE during our stay...sometimes our signal would revert to 3G and be painfully slow!!

Another perk, if you just can't go without, is the sites have cable TV connections...we did not use this service but some campers did.
