It’s okay

Has by far not been my favorite. It’s divided into 3 parts. We are Accross the road with no swimming pool or dog park. The main camp has a pool but the hot tub is broken. The dog park they do have has been closed the entire time we have been here. The main camp ground is very crowded and close together but at least there is a lot going on compared to our side which is very very quiet except for the fair people who have started coming in. There is another pool in the third section but that has been closed forever. I also am not fond of the area itself. For some this might be great but if you have small kids I don’t think this is the camp ground for you. Luckily we have a membership because with the lack of amenities I would have been disappointed to pay the going rate.

Mega Resort for RV Lifers

This place is gargantuan and has so many roads and alleyways that I got lost navigating the place at least a couple of times. And just when I thought that I seen all of Southern Palms RV Resort, upon exiting the place, I realized that there was even more of Southern Palms right across the street where the expansive RV parking lot continued.

Located on the outskirts of Eustis here in the Sunshine State, this place has just about everything you could be looking for – from parks, shuffle boards, evening themed dancing and lakes to bike paths, swimming pools and bocce ball. But wait, there’s more… there’s also: clubhouse/ lounge for large group gatherings, whirlpool / spa / jacuzzi for those late night relaxing moments, fitness center to get your workout in, showers / restrooms that are just decent, ballroom for those evening dance parties, WiFi that is pretty superb, basic and expanded TV cable packages, picnic tables galore, BBQ grilles as far as the eye can see, the whole place is pet friendly, a horseshoe pit (where Joey is the local hero), mail center, game room complete with billiards table, a dog park that is always jam packed with man’s best friend as well as a laundr-O-mat (bring your quarters!) an extensive library (without its own Dewey decimal system) … and the list goes on, but I will end here.

Downside to this place is that, well, it’s a mega mall of RV’s, campers and semi-permanent, yet mobile housing solutions, and there’s a lot more people and accommodations than there is really space for, so it is quite overcrowded and you will definitely hear your neighbors at all times of the day, in addition to all of the scootering traffic going by your ‘campsite’ whether day or night. So if you are simply looking for a place to stay for the night enroute to somewhere else, this is not a bad place, but given the overpopulation and the fact that every single amenity offered, while great for some, makes me feel like I just left home to go somewhere else where they have everything that I just left at home.

Insider’s tips? Here’s a few… First, if you are looking for a great meal and something out of the ordinary, head on over to The Dam Smoker and you will discover some pretty outrageous BBQ, which you can order and eat there (or order by the pound and go find a nice lakeside bench to enjoy) albeit in some very modest settings. Second, if you’d like to escape your asphalt slab for a nice slice of nature, then head over to Long Leaf Pine Trail, which has a decent hike, or check out the wildlife at Hidden Waters Preserve, both of which are near Lake Joanna.

Happy Camping!

Nice place to visit!

This is a Thousand trails Trails collection. Nice size park. We stayed for a couple of days as we prepped for our trip to the Northeast. One thing that separates them for the other campgrounds is the unique style they have of getting you to your spot. You follow a person to your spot and they then stretch a rope for you to back along to make sure your at the farthest from one side to give both you and  the next site all the space allotted to your site. Nice touch.

Sites are all full hook up.

Att and T-Mobile Hotspots and phones were perfect, no issues.

We did not use the laundry and the pool but both looked clean and well kept. Staff was very helpful and friendly.

Road noise was heard during the day by late in the evening things quieted down nicely.

Easy in and out for any size rig.

Southern Palms

Nice Encore park. Parking all back in on grass with no cement, table or fire pit. Next to a highway so it can be noisy.

Rude staff

We stayed at this campground almost 2 months and decided to leave when the staff changed my reservation and charged my card without my permission and was very rude. We decided to extend our reservation for the month of October and so I paid 75% of the month rate and told them I would give the rest

next week. Well the staff called to remind me I owed them 250$ and I told them I would be come up to pay the rest of the month on the 21st. And this would have us paid up until the 11th of November.. well the day before they canceled my reservation charged my card without my permission and then told me they were not extending my reservation because they didn't want to have to chase there money..now keep in mind you can pay weekly,  biweekly, or monthy so why did it matter to them when I paid the rest of the month ..How rude to treat a paying guest this way.. I felt humiliated and will never stay at the park again..Its not even a very nice park and the ants will chew your feet off if your not careful. The bathrooms need updating and the toilets are leaking and 2 of the 3 bathrooms have been closed the entire time I was there. for them to act some kinda way because I decided to pay the bill on 2 separate occasions is mind blowing.I can see if we were a leased permanent  resident but we were just visiting for a few months. Get over yourselves.

Quiet area

Staff was very helpful and pleasant. We had a elite spot and it was very quiet, not many people around. Everything was well kept. We plan to come here more often.

Quiet with plenty of room

We stayed 2 weeks with our Thousand Trails affiliate plan. We were surrounded by empty sites which was probably due to the pandemic. This was a great central location to visit lakes, gulf coast, springs and historic towns. Plenty of shopping nearby, whatever you could want. Many awesome restaurants in the area and the flea market/farmers market is next door on Thursday! Many great bargains to be found.

Nice park

Large park although it was only half full when we arrived. We stayed a week. Friendly, helpful office. When we arrived we were guided back to our site and we were offered help backing in. There were a lot of full timers living in the park and I have to say many of those sites looked run down. But overall a nice, clean park with lots of activities to join in.

This is a nice park

The park isn’t the best park we have been to but the surrounding area and safety and nice people make up for it. The bathroom is very nice and modernized. Laundry is more pricy than any other but they take card so it’s nice not having to get cash or quarters every time. Don’t like being towered the front of the park right next to the road. Love to be in the back where all the shady trees are. Sometimes neighbors play loud music until pretty late. The people in the park are so nice. The heated pool and hot tub are wonderful though could use some more water in it at times. One of the bathroom stalls has been closed forever and isn’t being fixed so there is only two in the main one. There is another set though in the club house area. Has a nice library and a mail room. Mount Dora and down town Eustis are beautiful.
