County Park with upscale amenities

We had a wonderful visit at our large site set up for a big group. But it still only costs $10. We had a very large ramada with 3 picnic tables, and built into west wall were 4 bbq grills. #22 is all by itself on the corner of the outside loop. It’s kinda close to 1-8 but it wasn’t bothersome. It gives you something to watch as you soak in the sun. Beautiful desert landscape with nearby mountains and blm land for biking and hiking. The Dwarf Car Museum is nearby and a must see for free. The camp host is a delightful, helpful woman that assisted us to keep our site when we had to extend our stay waiting for a package. Nearby circle K in Stansfield has an Amazon drop box if you need it.

Very friendly people here

We have TT membership and used this as a base in January ‘22 for shopping, and doing needed chores between campground’s in nature and boondocking. Made fast friends with the neighbors, got tons of recommendations from anyone walking or biking for things to do nearby. One neighbor generously let us use his step ladder to give our mh a good washing. We didn’t really stay long enough (1 week) to get into activities but we joined the many bike riders in the park. You can get a few miles in just going up and down the streets inside the gates. It’s not our favorite jam but it’s easier to take when you meet really friendly people.

Like a COE campground

We have really enjoyed our stay here. The campground in late November is about 2/3 full with plenty of space between sites. There are some seasonal campers but there’s still many more available sites and all are great. The non RV area is not occupied and feels abandoned. The activity/community building in that area is closed indefinitely. That could be why no one is there to tent camp because there are no bathrooms nearby. But it’s an area you can retreat to for quiet solitude. We have a view of the water and wildlife across the road with no sites to impede our view. This campground has several loops that follows the little branches of the lake. There are trails that accommodate bikes, and lots of activities for families and adults in separate areas. It has all the qualities of a COE with proximity to water, trails, bathroom and laundry facilities with the additional bonus of two separate pool areas and indoor facilities for events, games, TV, or community activities that they have regularly. There are playgrounds, mini golf, ping pong, corn hole, etc. This place is really huge and spread out. Oh, also a driving range in the center. Dallas is over an hour away. So for other things to do beyond the campground you will have to drive a bit. But there’s good places to eat in Wills Point and Terrell.

Great place if you like trains

The back fence is right next to the train tracks and the trains are very active sometimes blowing through every half hour all hours of the night. There are many full time residents here. The sites are very close and nearly touch each other back to back. There’s grass and palm trees throughout the park and plenty of bright street lights. Lots of shopping and restaurant choices nearby. We visited a few of the state parks in the area and Zephyrhills has a nice city park in town for walking and enjoying the many birds around the water. The RV park has a workout room, pool and laundry facilities.

Immaculate gorgeous waterfront sites

Book way ahead with this one, we only got one day. But it was glorious. It is a ACOE park and very reasonable especially if you have an access pass for the National Parks $15. Great place for boating and fishing. Very well landscaped and somewhat dispersed.

Average RV Park

We stayed here because it was free. Most people were friendly and the park was well kept. It’s a very large park consisting of the usual pavement and concrete. There are many full time residents here. It was close enough to Tampa to use as a Homebase for the RV show. We visited local state parks (not many nearby) and enjoyed the area on the gulf side of 19. It felt relatively safe and there was no gate to contend with.

Clean and quiet

You just can’t beat a free camping with shower and access to water. There were no equestrians here as of review time, so I’m sure it might change the quiet atmosphere a little. Our site #27 is backed up to the equestrian area, and I love horses so I’m fine with it. Plenty of room to park any size RV, but it is soft sand so be warned. Everyone gets a fire ring with grid and a picnic table. As long as you can generate power as needed, it’s a sweet spot. I agree with others that the nearby highway is noisier than I prefer. But at night it is quiet for sleeping. 8 day limit on stay, but you can leave for one day and come back if there is space.

Very close neighbors

This is not our favorite way to RV, but sometimes it’s all about location. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The permanent residents were very nice. We just like to have a little more space and nature around us. Our favorite day trip was Blue Springs State Park. Awesome boardwalk and viewing stations into the crystal clear water with tons of fish, birds and of course manatees. Nice gift shop, etc. But back to the RV park. We enjoyed biking around the park and full hookups with free cable.

Nice trails and river

There were not a lot of things to do here beyond hiking and boating. The campground was small with about 30 sites, dispersed. Three pavilions for when people can have gatherings again. Tampa is not too far away, but the park is kind of removed.

Gated for safety

This place has seen better days and the hook ups are not in the best locations. We were there during the pandemic and many of the Canadian regulars were not there. If you get a site along the fence in back, be prepared for neighbors noise that the RV park cannot control. Barking dogs and loud music, etc.

Great spot for fishing and camping

This was a favorite camping spot where people with RVs still know how to camp. Most enjoyed campfires, fishing and visiting with others. We were there in January and the manatees were everywhere. Plenty of things to do in the area. There are many good places for riding bikes.

Way down south tip of Florida

We did not have enough time to do everything we would have liked. Flamingo Adventures is about as far away as you can get from the rat race. They have eco tents, dry camping and hook ups. You can camp in the open grassy tent field by the bay, or in one of the campgrounds with hook ups for RVs. When the FHU sites fill there are still lots of dry sites available. They have clean bathrooms with showers. Some have solar heated water and some don’t. We stayed in the dry area and heard a lot of generator noise but most were considerate. The marina and store are an easy bike ride along a path that follows the waterfront. Manatee activities are in the canal and marina. There are many side trips along the very long ride from the visitors center at the entrance to Everglades National Park to Flamingo. They were working on many new and updated amenities: visitor center, conference center and lodging. Crocodiles can be seen in and around marina. Many friendly people everywhere; staff, rangers and visitors.

Animal Fun and Frolic

This was a fast favorite! We were there around Halloween and they had decorated the park so nicely. The sounds of the farm animals all around was fun and amusing for us. It was an easy hike as suggested on the map to circle around and through the cornfield, you get a great view of the farms nearby and the river. The country store has souvenirs, sundries, snacks and ice cream. You can buy firewood there too. The main attraction is the animals, but there is also a cute playground for the kids.

Great wildlife viewing

We had a spot by the river for a couple of weeks. We got to know some of the regular gators, stumpy (three legs), one-eyed Jane, etc. The birds are plentiful and fascinating. There is a wildlife refuge right around the corner for a quick and nearby day trip. The Cracker Museum was closed, for awhile it looked like. There are quite a few residential campers all clustered together close to the highway. They can have it. They have regular activities and a crazy mail system. All the usual amenities.

Love this place !

Small, quiet, and out of the way in the middle of the Withlacoochee State Forest. Only 27 sites with water and electric and a dump station on the way out. All sites have fire pit with grill, picnic table and level cement pad. We had a large beautiful oak on our site. Lots of hiking and hunting if you want it. Way out in the forest yet near to town. A campground for tents or RV. They have a clean, well maintained bathroom and recycling at the trash house. Fenced and gated (I assume to keep pets and people safe from the wildlife). Kinda sketchy cell service. I only wish we had more time here. A change of plans left only one night. And I was unable to get reservations to extend our stay for longer. So plan well ahead of time.

Brand new and nice owners

We stayed for a month for part of an Escapees winter hangout. The owners are very accommodating and friendly and are working hard to finish putting in the rest of the sites.  Very nice laundry and the bathrooms are the best!  Paved sites that are mostly level, but very exposed with no shade. Great for biking and a great bike path nearby that we used often. Manatee springs is close and Cedar Key is a welcome getaway.  Plenty of shopping options. We got a great deal on tires with stellar service across the road as we were leaving.  A sweet quilt museum and shop just down the road 3 or 4 miles. Giant pavilion for group activities and an air conditioned game room and library just completed.

Good location, close to attractions

A friend stays here seasonally and loves it. Lots of friendly people and close to attractions. Loves truck stop near by.  It is getting a little dated and showing sign of wear. However it has all the features you expect from a resort.

Quiet with plenty of room

We stayed 2 weeks with our Thousand Trails affiliate plan. We were surrounded by empty sites which was probably due to the pandemic. This was a great central location to visit lakes, gulf coast, springs and historic towns. Plenty of shopping nearby, whatever you could want. Many awesome restaurants in the area and the flea market/farmers market is next door on Thursday! Many great bargains to be found.

Nice Spot In The Poconos

Sites are kinda close together but it was fairly quiet even though it was full. I was not able to get WiFi even though I paid for it. We had to park near the office to get it to work. Kind of a pain to not be able to use the booster for all our devices in the rig.

Seen Better Days

This place was kinda rundown and in rough shape. Lots of cabins that are seasonal but have seen better days. We were able to find a site that was out of the way and felt like we were the only ones there. Nice trails leading out our door. Many of the sites had unusable hookup post. No wifi but okay AT&T cell service.
