    Beautiful

4 miles down washboard sand/gravel road will beat your truck and trailer to death. And the sites are small!! 18’ trailer in site #6 and had to unhitch the tow vehicle as it was sticking in the road. Barely fit 22’ trailer and tow vehicle in site #1 without unhitching. That aside, it is a beautiful quiet spot that is excellent for star gazing. Bath house is clean and lots of hot water. If you are car camping or tent camping or have a camper van, this might be a good spot for you. It is a dark zone, so no lights after dark - use red lights.

Quiet and serene Central FL Camping

We loved our tent camping experience at Lake Kissimmee. Our site was 22 in Loop 1 and we were pleasantly surprised to discover that we had our own direct path to the bathroom, which wasn’t something featured on the FL State Park booking site. On-site store was only open on specific days of the week and did not carry ice, but they did have small bundles of firewood. We look forward to booking the same spot when we come back to visit during the colder months.

    Isolated but fun

Tons to do on property including little stores, bbq restaurant, pizza, ice cream etc. Horseback riding, petting zoo, rock climbing. BUT, my only complaint is the noise level of the area. Lots of boat noise, gas golf carts (big property) & it just happened that my neighbors loved their gas blowers & pressure washing lol. Lots of great sites to choose from. Nice staff. Pet friendly.

    Amazing weekend

This is an amazing campground.  We stayed in the Astrological Pad so we can see the stars and oh my.. you can see them all!!!!  Bring your telescope.  The hiking trails are great!  Saw alot of Deer, boar and turkeys around the grounds.  I did not see any on the trails but that was ok. The campgrounds are clean and bathrooms are easily accessible. Most of the camp is red light only at night so please bring red light flashlights.

    Lovely Campground

Nice campground. Sites are wooded and moderately spacious. Bathhouse is clean. Far from everything. 30 min from anything, so bring what you need. Quiet during the week.

    Renaissance Faire Stay

We stayed here because we work the Brevard Show, and it was amazing! We loved the fallen tree, and so do kids to climb! It was a nice hidden surprise.

Unfortunately it might be taken down, there is however a nest of gopher tortoises under the tree. But all in all the park was great, and had good food when the food trucks came through!

The bathrooms and showers are pretty good too! They get nice and hot!

All the way to the Milky Way

Such a beautiful park! We were greeted by deer, and turkey as soon as we drove in. The staff were all very helpful, and kind, and the premises were beautifully maintained. We stayed on the family side, and there wasn’t as much privacy between the sites as I would’ve liked, but it was still very quiet. The nights sky alone, was definitely worth the visit, the Milky Way stole the show amongst the spectacle of shooting stars and meteors

    Amazing Park!

This park was clean, quiet and well kept. The bath house was tidy and the hot water was HOT. There are numerous trails, an observation tower, playground, boat ramp and fishing area. A replica 1870s Florida cow camp is also located on one of the trails. The sites are level and nearly all are shaded. The electric and water were good and the dump station had a hose to help with wash out. There is a small camp store with a few necessities but if you forget something there is a Dollar General about 20 minutes away.

Kilpatrick Hammock Campground — Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park

    Beautiful, relaxing, and clean!

We had a wonderful time staying on our site specifically - there is a line of palms & bush separating the tent area from the parking area, so it felt more remote than it was. There is also such a lovely variety of birds to hear throughout the day, and loved setting up our Eno in the morning for coffee! Unfortunately it was cloudy during the night of our stay, but I would honestly still go back in the same conditions. Definitely check the weather before booking your stay though, because seeing the stars would have been the cherry on top. :)

Nice, quiet and out of the way

I’m surprised by the negative reviews. Although this park was somewhat out of the way, we thought it was quiet and enjoyable. We had a nice site with plenty of room. Most sites were taken but everyone was really nice, not loud or anything. We enjoyed walking around the park and seeing some cool wildlife. Not really any wifi at the sites, but sometimes that’s fine with us!

    Magical place

Hidden gem in Florida. Now one of our favorite campgrounds. Spacious sites with lovely trees and greenery. Good privacy between sites. Miles of beautiful and varied hiking trails right from the campground - some shady and forested, others through prairies or along lakes. Good kayaking on the canal and lake but my husband must have been wearing the wrong pants cause he didn’t catch any fish - lol. Wifi connection available at /around the concession stand. Another great aspect was that we met many wonderful people - fellow campers just enjoying the peace, nature and community that Lake Kissimmee has to offer. We will definitely return!

    Lake Kissimmee State Park Campground

    Great Nature Escape

Lake Kissimmee is a great escape from life. There are miles of hiking/biking trails; waterways for small motorized boats, kayaks, and canoes; decent sized camp sites(especially for tents and small campers); and many opportunities to see wildlife including deer, amarillo, gators, and others. Another plus is that the camp store is well stocked. Also the Cow Ranch is a great piece of history and definitely worth a visit. There are some challenges including little to no wifi, the trails are very sandy so biking can be difficult unless you have wide tires.

    Not horrible but not great

I agree with the review before mine. The sites are nice by the ponds. Good spacing between them and clean looking. The back sites (sect C) had rigs that have been there a while. Some with old discarded air conditioners on the picnic tables or junk around them. We unfortunately were next to a couple that allowed their dog to poop all over their site and never once picked up after it. The location of this park is conveniently located to scenic Route A1A and plenty of stores.

    Not great

The area seemed more of a housing area for the less fortunate. Lots of tents and what it looked “ permanent outdoor living “ nice park , but the camp grounds were not great.

Convenient location and lots to do

We love camping here! It’s very close to shops but it doesn’t feel like it when you’re in the campground. Close to beaches. Lots of trails to walk or mountain bike. We’re full timers so we took advantage of the community garden here for a season. Disc golf, food trucks, farmers market, playground the list goes on! Great plaxe

    Peaceful & Beautiful Spot

We got into this site with a last minute cancellation over Labor Day weekend. It was a beautiful location! We had site 43 which was secluded from neighbors and in full shade. The back of the site opened to an open field and we constantly saw deer walking through the grounds. We also saw many armadillos and turkey! Site had water and electric as well as a fire pit and picnic bench. Each loop has a bathhouse and laundry unit. Sewage dump was clean and easy. Campground also has a general store with some essentials, snacks, WiFi and live bait. There’s water for fishing and a cleaning station, although we didn’t catch anything you could see the fish jumping constantly. There’s plenty of trails and an observation tower. We will be back!

    Beautiful,quiet and secluded sites

I live within a hours drive from this park and have been camping here for 40 plus years. This State Park is Old Florida, sites are secluded from the other sites compared to many other parks. There is a abundance of wildlife and plenty of hiking trails. This park to me is one of the best you will experience in Florida.

Kilpatrick Hammock Campground — Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park

    Simple and well maintained

Our visit was relaxing and enjoyable. We visited in July and the shade from all the trees around our site helped keep the heat tolerable. The camp site’s aren’t dispersed and a little close together but we didn’t have any immediate neighbors around us so it was perfect. We stayed on site 008 and it was spacious enough for our large cabin tent, picnic table, additional table, dog pool, chairs, etc. Our site is conveniently close to the bathrooms. I liked that there is only one main dumpster and it’s kept a distance from the camp sites. I think this helped keep any raccoons that may have been around away from the campers. AMAZING star gazing location.
