West Lenhardy Cutoff

West Lenhardy Cutoff offers primitive dispersed camping with basic amenities. Sites feature small fire pits and are relatively well-spaced, providing privacy from neighboring campers. The terrain is somewhat uneven, so finding a level spot for your tent or camper might require some searching. The campground's main attraction is its stunning views of Mt. Princeton and Mt. Yale. Cell service is surprisingly good, with some campers reporting four bars of 5G with T-Mobile.

No special permits are typically required for camping at West Lenhardy Cutoff as it's a dispersed camping area in national forest land. However, always check with the local Forest Service office for any seasonal restrictions or fire bans before your trip. Standard dispersed camping regulations apply, including maximum stay limits (typically 14 days) and Leave No Trace principles. During summer months, be prepared for abundant mosquitoes and insects, particularly in early July.

West Lenhardy Cutoff is located near Mount Princeton and Mount Yale, offering spectacular mountain views in Colorado. To access it, take Forest Road 375 and then turn south onto Lenhardy Cutoff Road. Be aware that the road becomes quite rough about a half-mile in, potentially requiring high-clearance vehicles. Some campers opt to find spots near the intersection of FR 375 and Lenhardy Cutoff if the road conditions become too challenging for their vehicle.
