A one-lane, mildly rough road leads past the Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area marker and down into a valley where dispersed campsites are marked with fire grids. No fees, no hookups. The road is passable for campervans, though the surface warrants attention. Campers who stop near the entrance get open sightlines toward the surrounding terrain. Toilets are on-site, pets are welcome, and the Arkansas River provides the nearest water source. Turtle Rock Campground sits less than a mile north for those wanting a different setup, and there are campgrounds around Buena Vista for campers who prefer more developed amenities.
