Springhill Mesa Dispersed Campsite

Within Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests, Springhill Mesa Dispersed Campsite provides free Bureau of Land Management camping along Highway 90. This gravel road site accommodates RVs up to 28 feet, though larger rigs may experience slight bumper dragging during entry. Trees provide natural screening from the gravel highway, where traffic remains moderate during day hours and quiet at night.

The dispersed area offers multiple potential camping spots of varying accessibility, with walking paths threading between established sites. Located northeast of Montrose, the campground allows pets and alcohol while providing cell service coverage. Nearby Dry Creek Ditch sits just 0.2 miles south for additional dispersed options. The site works well for overnight stops and campers comfortable with basic dispersed camping conditions.

Dispersed camping along a good gravel road

Actually scouted this out and found several possible sites.  Some looked pretty difficult to get in to with our 20ft truck and 28ft trailer.  We were able to get into this spot with the trailer bumper dragging just slightly.  It was an okay spot to park for the night.  Nice trees, paths to walk on and quiet.

It's next to Hwy 90 (gravel rd) but even though there's traffic it's not TOO busy and definitely quiet at night.

Easy access from Montrose, and good for an overnight.
