Multiple campers highlighted the stunning panoramic views and spacious mesa-edge sites. Access road starts rough but improves, with high clearance vehicles recommended for easier navigation.

Camped Near Start of Road

I am in a Subaru Outback and was a little intimidated by the road, mostly the amount of sharp jagged rocks. I would likely have been able to go further but there are a few sites right at the turnoff for the FR so I decided to stay here. Still amazing views overlooking Ute mountain. Tuesday night was so quiet I only saw one other car pass by me.

Beautiful views, sunset/sunrise šŸ‘Œ

Easy to get too and almost no one around, great area to explore and plenty of great camp spots, the sunset views and sunrise and stars were incredible. As others said there are sites right on the cliff looking at Ute and black mountain šŸ™Œ. Do not panic on the drive in, topography changes fast from flat farm ground!

Rough road but worth it

An amazing site if you have a high Clearance vehicle on the road is dry. If not, I’m not sure I would risk it. There are several sites along the road once you get to the edge of the cliff each one with a stunning sunset overlook. watch out for the cows as you come in, though!

Great spot with beautiful view!

Overnighted, no one but me. Gorgeous view of Sleeping Ute, beautiful sunset vista. Great spot to pitch tent. Someone had built a tall stone fire out which was perfect as a kitchen counter for my jet boil! Roads a little rough and rocky at start but gets better after 1/2 mile or so. I did my first ever wilderness drone try. Would recommend pretty good, high clearance vehicle. Would be dicey in rain

Beautiful overlook of Sand Canyon

This is the end of FS road 4726. The other site in this area is 4725. The description for here is similar to the description of the other. Incredible vista in all directions. The road starts a little rough but it is smooth after climbing that first hill. There are many sites in both directions along the edge of the mesa.

Here mid-May.
