A nice place!

The scenery was beautiful, but very windy at times. Also the person that stayed before me left a lot of trash in the fire pit, so we cleaned that up before the campfire. It’s also loud with the 18 wheelers driving down the main road. If you’re camping in a van or camper shell, it’s probably not a big deal. If you roof top tent camp or regular tent camping, it gets loud.

Lakeside dispersed camping

Clean washrooms. Cement picnic tables. About 4 nice camping sites around the lake. Quiet windy. The van is rocking around. Hold onto your car doors when you open them. Two bar LTE mobile service.

Frequently Asked Questions

What outdoor activities can I do at Sanchez Stabilization Park?

Sanchez Stabilization Park offers several outdoor activities centered around the reservoir. Fishing is popular at this location, with the lake providing opportunities for anglers. The surrounding area is scenic, making it ideal for photography and wildlife viewing. While not explicitly marked, there are likely informal hiking trails around the reservoir to explore the natural landscape. The park's open setting also makes it suitable for stargazing on clear nights, though be prepared for wind that can sometimes be significant. The peaceful environment, interrupted only occasionally by passing trucks, creates a nice backdrop for relaxation and nature appreciation.

What amenities are available at Sanchez Reservoir Campground in Colorado?

Sanchez Reservoir Campground provides basic but functional amenities for campers. The campground features clean washrooms, cement picnic tables, and fire pits at the campsites. There are approximately four camping sites positioned around the lake. Cell phone coverage is available with about two bars of LTE service, allowing for basic connectivity while camping. The sites are generally clean, though occasional trash may need to be removed from fire pits. The campground is relatively minimal in terms of luxury amenities, so come prepared for a more rustic camping experience.

Are reservations required for camping at Sanchez Reservoir?

Reservations do not appear to be required for camping at Sanchez Reservoir, as the campground seems to operate on a first-come, first-served basis. With only about four camping sites available around the lake, arriving early is recommended, especially during peak camping seasons and weekends. The limited number of sites means they could fill up quickly during popular times. For the most current information on reservation policies, it's advisable to contact the managing agency before your trip.
