This free state wildlife area campground sits beside Sanchez Reservoir in south-central Colorado, accessible by standard vehicle. The Colorado Parks and Wildlife-managed site provides basic camping near both the reservoir and a creek, with no advance reservations required. Campers can set up along the water's edge for fishing access or choose spots with views across the open water.
The area works well as a base for exploring the San Luis Valley, with Wild Horse Mountain View located nearby for additional camping options. Bring your own water and supplies, as no facilities are provided at this primitive camping area.
