San Isabel Lake

Hike-in access leads to San Isabel Lake, a backcountry campground where visitors carry their gear to lakeside sites. The campground allows campfires and provides WiFi despite its remote setting. Fishing, swimming, and hiking trails draw outdoor enthusiasts to this high-elevation location.

One camper noted the site's secluded nature, though weather conditions can shift quickly at this altitude. Rain and cloud cover create challenging conditions for tent camping, as Daniel experienced during a 15-hour storm that left his group cold and wet. The area around Crestone offers camping near Crestone for those preferring drive-up access over the required hike.

Wet and Pretty

It rained on us for 15 hours while we were here and we woke up in a cloud so we were cold and wet but other than that it was a very pretty and secluded campsite
