Golden Gate Canyon State Park

​​​Rifleman Phillips Group Campground is located at an elevation of 8,800 feet. Summer temperatures can vary from a high of 80 degrees during the day to nighttime lows in the 40s. The campground is located in a 50-year-old stand of lodgepole pine and is restricted to tents only. The facilities include picnic tables, fire rings, and areas for dispersed camping. There is a hand pump well and a vault toilet. Electricity is not available. There is parking for 15 vehicles. No trailers allowed - other than 2 small supply trailers. There are two major trails leading from the campground. They will take you to interesting places such as Forgotten Valley, Dude's Fishing Hole, City Lights Ridge and Frazer Meadow. ​​Your group is always welcome to attend the weekend campfire programs at Reverend's Ridge where pay showers and laundry are also available

TRAILERS AND MOTORHOMES: From Denver, take I-70 west to US-6 west to Hwy 119. Go through Black Hawk, CO and continue north on Hwy 119 for 16 miles to Gap Road. Turn right on Gap Rd 1 mile to Reverend's Ridge Campground. NOTE: Gap Road will be the 2nd Golden Gate sign you will see heading north on Hwy 119. ALL OTHER VEHICLES: From Denver, take I-70 west to Golden to Hwy 93, Hwy 93 north 1.5 miles to Golden Gate Canyon Road, left on Golden Gate Canyon Rd 14 miles to the park visitor center. Pass the visitor center and turn right on Mountain Base Rd just past Kriley Pond. At the top of Mountain Base Rd, turn left, then a quick right into Reverend's Ridge Campground. Nice group site

I’d give it a 5 but the vault toilets need a little care. Also wasn’t stocked with TP so we ran out.

Everything else was very good for a large group. Plenty of tent sites. Good water supply. Bear proof storage containers.
