Description
Old Monarch Pass Road (FR 237) winds through the subalpine corridor just north of Monarch Pass on the Continental Divide, reaching around 11,000 feet in this San Isabel NF dispersed area with mountain views in every direction. Several pullouts line the gravel road, and at least one spot features a small loop drive and fire pit; the entrance off the paved highway has steep, eroded ruts requiring some care, but the road beyond is in good shape. Monarch Pass and its trailhead connections are a short drive south.
