Angel of Shavano Dispersed Camping on FR252B

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

San Isabel National Forest's FR252B corridor hosts this free dispersed area, where the Colorado Trail passes through camp and a creek runs roughly 20 feet from the sites. Dense tree cover creates separation between sites. Vault restrooms, picnic tables, and potable water are available on-site, and firewood can be purchased from the camp host. Sites feature railroad-tie-enclosed sand pads measuring 15 by 15 feet, level and raked, though one reviewer used a rooftop tent setup rather than the pad itself. The area suits tent campers, rooftop rigs, and small vans. Larger RVs won't fit. No electrical hookups. Campers researching campgrounds near Poncha Springs will find this one among the more amenity-complete free options in the corridor.

Stream runs through it

With a tepui Rooftop tent over the Subaru. Grand daughter, the dog Blue and I went to check out this campground. Was a week day, and we had the entire campground to ourselves. Hiking ( Colorado trail ) runs through it as well as a creek 20 feet from camp. Heavy forested area provides lots of privacy space between sites. The relaxing sound of the water was a blessing. The camp host was friendly and helpful. Firewood was available for purchase. I'm going back in July. 5 days No electricity ( i dont need it), but potable water is available. Valt restrooms. Picnic tables. It's a tent campground. Each site has a 15 x 15 foot area for tent. railroad tie enclosed sand. Clean level and raked. Although we didn't use that. A rooftop tent, camper vans, and very small rvs could work. It's not really an RV campground. Metal fire pits with grate. $25 a night but half price with America the Beautiful pass.
