    Natural Features

The campground, at altitude 8,500 feet, is located at the edge of Eleven Mile Canyon, furthest from the canyon entrance. Some campsites are shaded by scattered spruce and ponderosa pine. Spillway is the closest campground to the Eleven Mile Reservoir, which spans 3,405 surface acres and 5 miles in length. Eleven Mile Canyon was cut by the South Platte River and is bordered by polished gray granite cliffs.

    Nicest KOA we've been to

And in fact I believe they were KOA of the year 2023 or 2024. More expensive than we're used to, but has nice amenities. Sites level with concrete pads, fairly large. Some space between with trees. Nice metal patio furniture provided at each site(chairs, table, fire pit). Has decent showers, hot tubs, and off leash dog park. Inexpensive pancake breakfast and pizza/wings to your site are available, also an onsite store. Kind of at the top of a rise, so good views but also kind of chilly for July (60s/40s). Massive thunderstorms with hail and heavy rain two evengings (CO mountains tend to get afternoon t-storms). Communicate via text to let you know about goings on. Good radio station out of Idaho Springs KYGT 102.7 and 103.9

    Riverside RV Park

Convenient Campsite by the Arkansas River

Riverside RV Park is on the outskirts of Salida, Colorado just off of US-50. The Arkansas River flows through the campground at a sedate flow. Our campsite (#8) was right next to and parallel to the river which provided some soothing sounds at night. It took a couple of tries to back our 20 foot travel trailer into the spot. The gravel site was level side to side but sloped slightly back to front. The bathrooms and showers are clean but a bit worn, and they are across the river bridge from the campsites and up some fairly steep steps. My wife is handicapped, so we had to drive around to the bathhouse.

The campground is next door to a Sonic Drive-In and across the highway from a Wal-mart. It is within a half hour drive to rafting, horseback riding, hot springs, trailheads to the outback and high mountains.

We enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

There's not much at the ARH marker itself, but continue on down the one-lane, mildly-rough road to a number of very nice campsites down in the valley. They are well marked with fire grids. These are considered dispersed campsites with no hookups or fees.

    Great smaller RV park

Really enjoyed staying at this park, site was incredibly long but a bit skinny but did the trick. You can hear the river running almost everywhere in the park

Met great folks there, staff was very nice too.

    Dump Run by Crooks

This campground is an absolute dump run by dishonest crooks. We stayed here in October on a night that it got below freezing and snowed. We were put in a cabin that had a 2-inch gap between the bottom of the door and threshold. The heater was more like a hair dryer and didn’t warm the cabin. It was 40 degrees in the cabin so we didn’t sleep. The floor crunched while walking on it and the platform bed was metal. When we got off the bed there was a loud bang. When we tried to get a refund from the owners she blamed us and said the problem was we didn’t understand rustic cabins. We have stayed in rustic cabins in the cold months for 10 years and never experienced this. There are many places in Buena Vista…take your business elsewhere.

    Great stay

Very convenient off the highway, but then you get highway noise. Clean campground, very nice owner. We didn’t used the facilities so I can’t speak for that. Very fair price for FHU space with tree and picnic table ($43 after tax).

Awesome place to stay with SXS

We got there the Sunday before Labor Day and stayed all week. People were leaving so the park was fairly quiet. Full hook ups were nice to have. The temps were getting below freezing at night. Nice change from the Texas heat. The morning we left it was 23 degrees so protect your water lines. Great place to stay and ride out of park. Camp host were very friendly and we look forward to going back next year.

Absolutely beautiful especially when the sun is out!

We had a great time in Site #24, camping in a tent.  This site is inadequate for an RV or even a camper, as the parking spot is just a widening in the road.  But the site was very private and  had beautiful views.  I left a day early as a new neighbor came to the site across the road and was running his generator a lot….so I just decided to leave….

    Almost perfect

I want to say a bit about this campground. It’s the best we’ve stayed at in a long while. A new family just took over and this is their first summer. It has everything. Full hookups to tent camping. Full hookup sites are a bit tight but fine. It’s at over 8000 feet and the views are amazing. We can see snow. They have a nice camp store, WiFi that works, golf cart rental, a playground, kids games, a community area (even host occasional concerts) fishing, and a river running through. On site laundry and very clean bathhouse. It’s near a highway but we never found the road noise a problem. Didn’t even notice except an occasional truck using Jake brakes. It all but stopped at night.

Owners are super nice and helpful. And we even saw a moose. The stars are amazing here BTW.

The kids didn’t want to go anywhere they were happy just to hang out here at the campground.

Full Service Glamping close to Breck

Let's be clear - this is not camping. This is renting a driveway with access to power, water, sewer, internet, and cable. It is EXPENSIVE. It's also the only place near Breckenridge that offers all of these amenities.

The clubhouse offers a heated pool and hot tub, arcade, business center, locker rooms, laundry ($2 per wash / $1.75 to dry), and owners lounge. There are tennis/pickleball courts and a community fire pit in the center of the resort that hosted movie night during our stay.

No complaints about this place other than the fact that no one answered the phone at the office during our stay. The good news is that they email the gate code and wifi password ahead of time, so we were able to find our way to the site on our own.

    Beware Overpriced!

$28 for day use! Ridiculous! Just my son & I & 1 vehicle. We just wanted to visit the lake & hike. The hiking trail was lame for the price although the waterfall was lovely. Nice for fishing and camping, just not worth it for hiking for a few hours & nowhere on the website is the price for day use. Also, the 2 men in the office complained that they were shorthanded & didn’t provide a map, we found one outside on the wall. Never coming back. :(

    Rocky Mtn High

Your up at 8890’ at this KOA. Wind your way up a nice but steep four lane road to this campground! We stayed in a big rig stop. Concrete slab, full hook ups. Was below freezing at night so we didn’t leave the water connected at night but the days were a pleasant 60-65 but the wind did come up several days and it was chilly. Very nice new composite patio furniture and fire pit and gas grill to use! The areas in between spaces have large enough rocks to cause some tripping issues while hooking up. Watch your step.

Nice bathrooms two large hot tubs and 6 washing machines and dryers @ $2 a load for each.

Nice staff and gift shop with beer and liquor and most needs. They had just opened for the season and have pizza available but we didn’t try it!

If you like to gamble there are a plethora of casino s just a few miles down the valley in Central City.

Yes Mountain High!! 8100’ high. 7 miles off I-70 at Idaho Springs. 25 miles into outskirts of Denver. Don’t worry they have oxygen! Not kidding!!

Nice campground, friend staff, laundry, fun little gift shop with some food stuffs, beer and liquor. Pizza cooked there but we didn’t try it.

Our space was a big rig space on concrete pad with ample seating, a table, a fire pit, and a propane grill stove… use you own propane! Full hook ups. It was still reaching freezing at night and so we didn’t hook up our water.
