La Mesa RV Park

La Mesa RV Park sits on the main street in Cortez, providing full-hookup camping eight miles from Mesa Verde National Park's entrance. This established campground accommodates RVs up to 50 feet with both pull-through and back-in sites, each equipped with electric, water, and sewer connections plus a picnic table.

The park operates as a practical base for exploring the Four Corners region, with the owner-manager offering detailed area recommendations and route advice to arriving guests. Road noise from the main street is noticeable throughout the property, as several reviewers mention. The facility includes basic amenities like restrooms, showers, and a single washer-dryer unit that shuts down at night. WiFi is available, and both AT&T and Verizon provide strong cell reception according to camper reports.

Long-term residents occupy some sites, giving the park a mixed temporary-permanent feel. Trees throughout the property change colors in fall, and the layout follows standard RV park spacing. "Don't forget your American the Beautiful pass for free entrance into park," advises Joseph W. regarding Mesa Verde visits. The park accepts Passport America discounts and allows pets.

For a different experience, Cortez, Mesa Verde KOA offers more recreational amenities nearby.

A basic RV park with helpful management and good value, located 8 miles from Mesa Verde National Park. Visitors often highlighted the knowledgeable staff and convenient location, though some road noise is expected on the main street in Cortez.

Last- Minute Gem

A delay in our travels to Monument Valley from Pueblo led us in search of a comfortable camp site at the last minute that brought us to this amazingly well-kept RV Park and campsite. They had both back- in and pull- through options with electric, water, and sewer hookups on a nice level gravel lot. The manager was quick to respond with reasonable pricing, discounts, and payment options. The lot host was very friendly and helpful as soon as we got to our spot as well. The site was very clean, without any noise disruptions. Although we had no furry friends with us, it was nice to see the site was pet- friendly with a clean potty area for them available. Plenty of lot space with a nice picnic table and well- maintained hookups. FYI- no bathrooms/showers on site but our camper was equipped with that so it wasnt an issue for us.

Does The Job

We stayed here using Passport America discount on our way to Albuquerque.

The park is a very basic RV park in the town of Cortez. There is quite a bit of road noise as to be expected in a town. It seemed a bit rundown but not awful. There were some long time residents living there.

The guy (owner? manager?) who came out to meet us when we pulled in was very nice and gave us a lot of tips on things to do in the area. It is only 8 miles to Mesa Verde National Park so a great place to stay if you want to check that out. He gave us a list of other things in the area as well. Very knowledgable and friendly.

There was one washer and dryer for a laundry room that shuts down at night. There are dumpsters for garbage but no recycling. The sites are full hook ups with pull through and back in available and they can accommodate big rigs. Each site had a picnic table as well. Overall a convenient place to stay if you want to check out Mesa Verde or are just traveling through.

Good cell reception ATT and Verizon and the park offers Wifi.

Great place to stay

The park manager Jim was fantastic! We had some problems with our Class A and he knew a great guy named Clint who came out the next morning to help us. Jim gave us great advice on routes and things to see. Saved our Colorado vacation time!!!!

Quiet Hideaway

La Mesa RV is a quiet campground an easy drive away from Mesa Verde National Park. We were able to complete a contactless reservation after a quick phone call to check for availability (something I appreciate so much in the time of Covid). The leaves are changing and the weather has been beautiful this second week of October. The RV park has pretty trees changing. The spaces are pretty typical RV park - basically just a pleasant parking space with a table.
