Beautiful stars and very close to town.

I wanted a spot while driving north from New Mexico and this was perfect. sat right above town, it was an awesome little spot. Only thing is because there is absolutely no trees or anything, the wind goes a little wild so beware!

Beautiful views and starry nights

Nice site with two fire pits. Nice views of the mountains. It’s pretty isolated and private. Road up to it had some ruts, I’d guess from frequent ohv use. I arrived on a Friday evening and there were no other vehicles, but as the weekend goes on, may get some ohv traffic. Fully dispersed, no trash/water/toilets.

The drive is beautiful

We stayed for a few hours to solar charge. This is a great area that’s near a few private ranches. The app mentioned a steep incline but we managed no issues with a 04 Toyota sienna FWD

The site's elevated position above town provides beautiful mountain views as a natural amenity.

Do I need a permit for dispersed camping around South Fork, Colorado?

No permit is typically required for dispersed camping at Forest Road 614 near South Fork. This area follows standard US Forest Service dispersed camping regulations, which generally allow free camping for up to 14 days in a 30-day period.
