Many campers appreciated the clean, accessible sites and scenic mountain views. Access requires higher clearance vehicles due to rough trails, and weekends tend to get crowded with various recreational users.

Tough to find spots even at coordinates

Even going about a mile past the coordinates there didn’t seem to be any dispersed camping spots.

Beautiful, peaceful

Mid July and no one here. Incredible. The Switzerland trail is in pretty rough shape though, you can definitely make it out if you have AWD, but I almost got stuck on the way in thanks to the overlanding trailer I’m pulling. Be very certain about which site you decide to head to, don’t spend two hours inching your way around one tree like I did.

Great truck and van friendly camp spot

Beautiful views of the surrounding mountains, with ample space, and easy access to the sugarloaf mountain trail. The road is in poor shape but a 2wd suv with decent clearance should be fine.

Secluded, spacious location

Excellent spot! Navigate in daylight! Do NOT go all the way to the coordinates if you’re in a sedan, STOP at the “entering national forest” sign. There’s plenty of camp space behind the sign. You will not make it to the coordinates. Internet service went in and out

Quiet and no one up here

This place is gorgeous, we only made it just past the coordinates and parked on top of that hill. Thought we could get in farther but a quick walk showed us that it’s little too washed out and steep for our pickup camper. Super nice area, lots of walking trails you can do. Amazing views of the mountains and this spot is perfect to watch the sun set in the west.

Great Spot - Lots of Options

You definitely need to know where you’re going with this one, as the location on here isn’t really even close. The trail getting in/out is fairly rough and uneven, so you’ll need something with some sort of clearance. The sites themselves were pretty fantastic, clean, and accessible. There are more rewarding and harder to reach spots the farther you go, but plenty are easily available. You’ll find lots of fine folks walking, riding quads/bikes, etc. It’s not often you find a spot like this that isn’t crowded out.
