Great Spot In A Pinch

I had messed up on a rv booking and there was literally no where for us to go. Pulled this place up. Made a gamble and it paid off. Beautiful. Quite. Cozy. We were able to get a 33foot travel trailer back there just fine. Real off grid but was a nice spot only 10 min from town

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Peewink Mountain camping located and how do I access it?

Peewink Dispersed Site 1 is located approximately 10 minutes from town in a secluded mountain area. The site is accessible via a forest road that can accommodate larger vehicles, including RVs up to 33 feet in length. While off-grid and somewhat remote, the road conditions are manageable for most vehicles. For precise directions, it's recommended to use a navigation app or contact the local Forest Service office for the most current access information.

What are the best hiking trails near Peewink Mountain?

The Peewink Mountain area offers several hiking opportunities in the surrounding forest. While specific trail names aren't detailed, the location's proximity to town (just 10 minutes away) means you're likely close to established trail networks in the national forest. For the best hiking information, stop by the local Forest Service office or visitor center when you arrive. They can provide current trail maps, conditions, and recommendations based on your skill level and preferences. Many nearby trails likely offer beautiful mountain views and forest scenery.

What amenities are available at Peewink Mountain camping areas?

Peewink Dispersed Site 1 is a true off-grid camping experience with no formal amenities. There are no water sources, toilets, trash services, or electrical hookups available. Campers should come fully prepared with all necessary supplies, including adequate water, waste disposal bags, and camping equipment. The site offers natural features like trees for shade and beautiful surroundings, but visitors must be self-sufficient and practice Leave No Trace principles.

Do I need a permit to camp at Peewink Mountain?

Peewink Dispersed Site 1 typically follows standard Forest Service dispersed camping regulations. While formal permits aren't generally required for dispersed camping, there may be stay limits (usually 14 days within a 30-day period). It's advisable to check with the local Forest Service office before your trip for any seasonal restrictions, fire bans, or temporary closures that might be in effect. Always have a valid ID and vehicle registration available if requested by rangers.
