Shaded by fir trees at 9,400 feet in Pike National Forest, Springdale Campground is a small, forested site that runs from May through September and accepts both drive-in and walk-in campers. The campground is cash only, has no cell signal, and sites sit close together, so campers expecting a spread-out layout may want to adjust expectations before arriving.
The tree cover is one of the campground's most consistent features. Most sites are shaded, and reviewers note the bathrooms are kept clean. No showers are available, just a vault toilet, and firewood collection is permitted on-site. A nearby host has drawn positive mentions for being approachable and helpful. One reviewer noted the road leading in is "easily drivable in good weather conditions," which suggests it may become more challenging after rain or early in the season.
A lake sits roughly five minutes by car from camp and provides fishing access, though steep cliffs limit how much of the shoreline is actually reachable. The campground carries a fee of up to $25 per night, which at least one reviewer found high relative to free dispersed sites available nearby. Rampart Range Rd Dispersed is one such option for campers who prefer no-cost camping with more space between sites. Those who want full hookups closer to town might consider Woodland RV Park as an alternative.
