simple

had the cleanest bathrooms of any campsite ive been in my whole life. they are close to the campsites, and so is a beautiful hike. saw lots of climbers so if your into that this place has great access. clean sites, paved roads up until the wide dirt road that any car could access. people here seemed to be pretty calm, not much late night partying. my site had some shade in the morning which was really nice. i would definitely come back here :)

Quiet and beautiful

There was nearly no one else camping here. It was beautiful. It is more open with little shade but we had storms so it was just fine. The sites are quite close to each other, but that was fine with a nearly empty campground. The site we stayed at was right next to the day parking lot so it might be a little busy if it’s a weekend or holiday. Toilets were clean. I liked it here a lot and will definitely visit again.

Lovely campground

A lovely quiet campground with beautiful views on all sides. It sits in a valley so you have tall mountains to the east and the red sand gulch climbing cliffs to the west. Breathtaking.

It was nearly empty - which was nice. But I feel that if it was full it would be very tight. A lot of the camp spots are very close together and visible from other spots.

There is a cow field nearby so you can hear cows sometimes.

Absolutely beautiful star gazing with very little light pollution.

Only one bathroom that was kind of dirty.

Great climbing, beautiful views

Camped here multiple times at different times of year. We’ve stayed in both paid camping and dispersal sites. Definitely want to get there early if you want a paid spot with fire rings and tables. There’s a clean vault bathroom at the trail head. The one con of this area would be if you stay in dispersal sites beware of human poo poorly buried in loose sand. Use the toilet please!!

Great location for a getaway

This campground was so awesome. Very remote and Greta place to pitch a tent for a few nights and the weather was phenomenal in June. Will be going back here soon

Great access to climbing in a beautiful area full of cliffs

We stayed here because it was close to shelf rd rock climbing areas. Very basic, almost primitive campsites. There are 16 Individual campsites that are $7/night and accommodate 8-10 people. group campsites are $14/night and accommodate up to 20 people. All sites are first-come, first-served. The campsites include picnic tables, fire rings and tent pads. Fire ban is currently in effect.

There is an exhilarating drive on on lane dirt road through the canyons just past the campsite. so amazing, but be careful! one wrong move could send you and your car over the cliff!

climbers trail to "the gallery" climbing area starts bw sites 9 and 10

Sleep at the Base of the Crag

Located right off Shelf Road climbing area, this is the best spot to stay for a weekend on the rocks. Spots are open to multiple tent sites and are relatively cheap. Even better, there's a vault toilet...but you can expect a line.
