Fly fishing gem

This campsite is not just for fly fisherman but for outdoor relaxation, biking, nature watching, hiking, trail running and that is just for starters! But Anglers from beginners to experts can ply the Conejos River for rainbows, brownies, cutthroat and cut bow trout. Non-electric and water only sites so be prepared for off grid camping. We love! it there!

Wonderful weekend!

This was a wonderful spot! We tent camped with our family of 4 for 4 nights. Camp hosts were awesome too! We haven’t ever done a site with no shower so that’s the only reason it didn’t get a 5 star. But! The river made for great bathing :-D

Nearby to tons of hiking spots and great outdoors experiences.

Beautiful Setting

My wife and I camped here in July 2021. The lower campground sits right on the Conejos River. Tons of shade under giant pine trees. Great fishing access to public waters.

One negative:

  • Barking (more like yelping) dogs all 3 days of our visit. Owners left the dogs for hours during the day and the camp host seemingly did nothing to stop it.

In the end, this is an awesome spot with well-maintained spaces, clean-ish bathrooms, fresh water supply, and great privacy. If not for the dogs, I would give Aspen Glade a 5.

Best fly fishing

If you like fly fishing this is the place to come! Fishing in the conejos river is spectacular. Beautiful, quiet and fish are big! We encounter a mosquito hatch which wasn’t fun but unusual. The sites are spacious. No hookups but there is water, bathrooms and trash service. Campground is clean. Noise of the river was nice. Recommend the loop by the river.

The entire area is a paradise

It’s a hidden gem of this part of Colorado. This campground has a loop by the Coñejos River and that is where we stayed. Campsite was big and they are nicely spread out. Didn’t see the host much but they campground is kept well. No cell signal. We really enjoyed our 4 nights there but with the shaded spot we got getting consistent solar charge was a challenge. Either way, we will come back next year.

Shaded spots, right on the Conejos

Very nice campground. Lots of shade and lots of space between sites. Fishing along the river within the campground. Trash receptacles, water and bathrooms available. Nice little day use area right next to the river.

Good

Wish that it were a little cheaper and maybe a bit fatter from the road but it is a nice spot right in the river and has amenities.
