Sitting at the edge of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, Peg Leg Dispersed is a free boondocking area where campers spread out among desert shrubs with no developed infrastructure and no fee. The site is not prominently listed on the park's website but does appear in the visitor guide available at the visitor center. Cell service is reliable here. Weekdays tend to be quieter, though ATV traffic can pick up on weekends. Watch for nails and broken glass on the ground. Pegleg Smith Camping — Anza-Borrego Desert State Park sits just across the road and may eventually shift to a fee-based model, but this section shows no current signs of development. Pets are welcome, and alcohol is permitted.
