Must stay!

By far one of our favorite campgrounds! The ladies at the front are always so incredibly sweet! We have stayed here multiple times and plan to come back when we are back in socal. They always help us get the best spot that’s open and allow us to check in early if needed. This is the most peaceful campground we have stayed in yet, with each full hookup spot being super private surrounded by trees. They also have non hookup and tent camping, which all have such beautiful views. You will have a metal picnic table and a fire ring. (Metal picnic table is a plus, because a lot of campsites provide a plastic one that you can’t grill on). There are so many trails to explore with signs throughout, and even just walking through the campground with our pups was beautiful. Definitely the most gorgeous sunsets! Could not recommend this place more. 10/5 stars EASY.

Great place to stay

Nice very helpful staff. I made reservations over the phone and let them know I would be a late check in and she gave me the code to gain after hours access. Spaces are good size and plenty of room in between the next site. Nice clean water in the lake with plenty of fish. I will definitely stay again in the future.

Beautiful!

This campground had a ton of bonuses, close to town if you need things but far enough away to feel the full camping experience. Bathrooms, playground, hikes, 360 views. We went during winter storms and it was still so beautiful! Great location, would go again and highly recommend!

Hidden Gem

This place is truly a hidden gem. Just 30 minutes from San Diego, with friendly staff and partial or full hookups. We were in a preferred lake view site#96 which had water and electric hookups. There was a play area that had ladder golf, tetherball, and ping pong. Have extra guess? Have them reserve a Tipi that has a max of 6 people. We had thee bars on our Version service and the campground WIFI is one of the best I have seen camping. Lake Jennings has some supplies available as well such as ice, propane, firewood, etc. at reasonable prices. Bathrooms and showers are clean. There is a dump station in the campground, and I suggest checking out the best way to get into the dump station before taking your rig. there are several roads around the dump station but only one that takes you in straight without having to make a sharp turn and possibly having to back up. The lake is drinking water for the local town and therefore no swimming allowed but they do stock the lake with fish. Just a long walk or short drive to the other side of the Lake and you can go fishing or boating. I would not suggest checking in early. The road in is very narrow and if you arrive before the noon checkout time you may find yourself falling into the lake while trying to squeeze by another on coming RV or trailer.

Peaceful (mid-week)

We had scoped this out as a wintering location for my snowbird dad, and I always remembered how powerfully silence of that hillside had impacted me... finally camped there- it was lovely! Sites with the best views of lake or hillside are generally not for those who want sewer hookups, but other than the weekend during our visit we could wander through these gorgeous sites & adjacent paths while the view was pristine. Boat rental on weekends. Campers can fish from shore weekdays, but swimming isn't allowed (its a reservoir). Already real hot mid-day in March. But so lovely!

Disappointed with the misinformation provided during booking. Was told ground at campsite was dirt, but was actually gravel. Bath and shower facilities are old and not as described in other reviews. Friendly staff but that wont get me to visit again.

First time with our RV

I love that for my first time using my RV they had hook ups that Included electricity, water, and sewer. Nice Camp area. I enjoyed it for just being a weekend get away. Sadly they are very serious about keeping the noise down after 8pm, so we had to bring the music to a very low volume, which my site being located right next to the park host site did not help Im sure LOL, but overall I would come and visit again. Some campsites have better views of the lake so you might want to call the info line to let you know what spots to reserve for the best views.

Close to home

I took my kids here for a trial run of tent camping with them. The campground is well maintained. They sell wood, fishing licenses, and other items you may need.

We stayed in space 45 which had a nice view of the lake. This space was surrounded cactus that may be hazardous for little tikes.

I'd also highly recommend bringing some shade of your own as there are not many trees at some sites.

Go on the weekend

We stayed two nights but never could get on the lake. It opens Friday at 3pm (after checkout). I’m sure this is posted prior to reservation, but it’s surprising when visiting. We could reach the shore at the campground while camping WITHOUT our dog. Beautiful, grandiose views. Some sites need much leveling. I know which site to reserve next time!!

Great Campsite

Lake Jennings Campground is a great campsite tucked away in Lakeside, CA. There are a good amount of campsites, and plenty with great views of the lake (“Preferred View” sites). We stayed in site 91 for 4 nights from Monday to Thursday night while the campground was pretty empty. I imagine it would be a little louder when it’s at full capacity, but we had no noise issues from fellow campers. However, there was plenty of random noise from the military helicopters that randomly flew overhead. It wasn’t disruptive, just unexpected. This campground is not secluded by any means, so the air traffic shouldn’t be a surprise. Honestly, it’s hard to go anywhere in San Diego County without air traffic interruptions.

We chose Site 91 because it was at the top of a moderate hill at the end of the road, in an attempt to experience reduced traffic from other campers. The site was a Preferred View site and it did not disappoint! Views of the lake at sunrise and sunset were amazing and made for the perfect vista from our RV bed. An added benefit of the Preferred View sites is the privacy since no one is camped behind you. Our particular site even had useful shrubbery on each side to create a quasi sense of privacy between sites. Each site has a nice little fire pit and picnic table, and there was plenty of room for a second vehicle in addition to our van.

There are plenty of restroom facilities sprinkled throughout so nothing is inconvenient. The restrooms are individual bathrooms with showers that are hot and NOT coin operated, so enjoy a full hair washing session if there’s not a line. The only caution: pincher bugs. Just brush them off and go about your business. But like everything, check the toilet seat and your clothes before proceeding.

Finally, internet service was great for Verizon. We got 23 Mbps with 3 bars of 4G LTE unboosted, and 69 (!!!) Mbps with 5 bars using a simple MIMO antenna. We live and work in our RV (20’ Class B) full time, so this was crucial. The staff was also great. They were regularly driving by, cleaning or maintaining the grounds. In the end, we will definitely camp here again.

Watch out for the geese!

We come here once a week to feed the ducks with my nephews. We’ve come to this lake my whole life. Don’t come here alone and I wouldn’t go at dark either. Always be aware of your surrounding but enjoy the beauty of the lake!

Peaceful with views galore.

We had the pleasure of camping at Lake Jennings twice this year. We were tent camping in August and October.  In August we had an extraordinary view of the lake and in October of the city lights below.  We loved every moment of fishing and hiking.  The camp staff was so friendly and organized. They called several days before our arrival and had waiting at our site our fishing licenses and firewood.  We were so comfortable with their Covid-19 rules.  The bathrooms with showers were open and exceptionally clean.

Can not wait to go back.

Unbelievably nice

This was our first experience with our RV and I can't imagine a better first impression. Did not use the restrooms or the showers but given how well everything else seemed, I would expect them to be top-of-the-line as well. we paid a couple of bucks extra for a view site and I would recommend it. the sites are not perfectly level and our rudimentary leveling system did not get us perfect. Hardly even worth mentioning but if you're still using blocks, like us, I would recommend the upgrading. The sites are crazy hard to get in the summer and even now with kids back in school they are pretty much full every weekend. And you will know why once you visit.

Beautiful!

What a beautiful week spent at Lake Jennings Park. I still can’t believe I got this place pretty much last minute! I went in blindly, and just picked a space number, 51. What a great site it was! Heck, every site seemed great! Sat and drank my coffee every morning looking at the lake through the trees. Big, clean, space, with a nice, newer, metal picnic bench, BBQ/fire pit, and full hookups. And because of the way the spaces are, you feel like you have your own private site, and aren’t next to anyone else. Trees and bushes separate most of the sites. You can get partial hookups, tent sites, and even premium sites, overlooking the lake. It’s a Water District park, so it was around $270 for the week. Everything was done by email and online. Lots of amenities closed, playgrounds, horseshoes, etc...but the bathrooms and showers were available, and you can fish all week, and boat on the weekends. I haven’t made any calls, but my Consumer Cellular fluctuated between one and three bars, and the internet is very iffy, and I’ve noticed every park is very iffy. Plenty of OTA channels if you need a digital fix. Overall, the place is well worth it, and I’ll definitely cough up the cash for this place again!

Okay

The lake is beautiful and campsites are clean. We didn’t use the bathrooms. They have a dump station for RV or trailers. The camping is on the other side of the lake, making it difficult to rent boats unless you have a car. The walk to the lake for fishing is far and in many areas covered in brush. We had fun but will not go back.
