Description

The marina and campground is located in Northern Mono County, on the East Side of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, in California. We are approximately 1 hour North of Mammoth Lakes, Ca and about 2 1/2 hours South of Reno, Nv.

Services include 80 ft. pull-throughs, Electric, Water, Sewer, Wi-Fi and Tent Camping as well access to Off-Road Trails to the Bodie Hills.

The resort overlooks Bridgeport Reservoir in what is akin to a “Great Basin-High Desert environment. Beautiful views and open space add to the charm and experience of staying at the reservoir.

Established in 1924, the reservoir was constructed to aid farmers and ranchers downstream in Nv. Soon after, it was realized a strong fishery could occur here too. Today, it sustains a population of Rainbow and Brown Trout as well as some Sacramento Perch. A rich eco-system, similar to Crowley Lake, provides an unlimited food supply for the fish to grow and populate. The Reservoir provides anglers of all ages and skill to catch fish, whether one is Trolling, Still-Fishing or Fly- Fishing.

There are many other activities besides fishing to help guarantee a great vacation. Bring all your toys!! ATV off-road riding(leave from the park), Hiking, Biking, Rock or Mountain Climbing, Photography, Birding, Horseback Riding (we have short-term boarding) , all water sports(sailing, water-skiing, etc…). are just a few..

Great sightseeing point

This is one of the most beautiful landscape sites we have been in our trip. We really wanted to stay around here when passing by, and wondering to change our camping site, just to realized it was just there. So we feel really blessed. The camp did not have a full equipped RV place for us as they booked, but it was just in front of the lake. Bathrooms were very smelly and our kids did not even go inside…. So that’s a real minus, as it was the first time it ever happen to us… though and showers a bit expensive for a campground but it is alright

Decent Layout

Decent layout and location. Lake is still filling leaving the finishing better handled from a boat. Dry camping spot are good sized with excellent lake and Mountain View’s. Bathrooms and showers onsite if needed along with a small general store and offsite boat rentals (onsite when the lake is full).

Good if you fish, have a boat or ATV....

…..But we don’t participate in any of these activities. We had reserved a site but now wish we had not and left it to chance as we didn’t end up staying and had to pay regardless. It was VERY windy (in fact, there was an area-wide high wind advisory) and with our pop-top campervan, it would have been challenging. The sites are all gravel and appear level. There is a mix of full hook-up and non-hook-up, tent sites, and, in the summer, tent cabins. There is no privacy between the sites. Although our site backed up to the reservoir, the view from the front was a work in progress (i.e. piles of dirt, extra equipment, etc.) The picnic table had seen better days.

The bathhouse closest to the nonhookup sites was still closed for the winter; the other one was tiny. The stalls had doors but no privacy closure and would be challenging to navigate for anyone of a larger size. Hot showers were $4.00. There is no private place to dress when showering. There is a laundry room but had a code entry and since we didn’t stay, I did not see the inside.

As the name suggests, there is a marina. The staff was all pleasant. For us personally, this would be a two-star stay but for those who have a boat or ATV, this would likely be an excellent place to stay, especially in the summer, so I am giving it 3 stars.

Good times at Bridgeport

Campsite is very clean. Flat tent spots. Bathrooms and showers.Weather was beautiful but windy. Came on a day a strange storm came thru. Steps away from a reservoir. Close to Bodie and Mono Lake.
