Railside RV Ranch

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Railside RV Ranch sits just off the highway in Williams, Arizona, backed up to the Grand Canyon Railway tracks that run through town. The location is deliberately functional: campers use it as a base for day trips to the South Rim, roughly 55 miles north, or to nearby Flagstaff and Sedona. The campground is gravel throughout, roads and pull-in sites included, and reviewers describe the layout as fairly level with sites spread wide enough to feel uncrowded.

Cleanliness is the detail that comes up most consistently across reviews. Simon M. wrote that "few campsites have this clean restrooms," and that sentiment holds across multiple visits and seasons. A March stay confirmed warm facilities and plenty of hot water. The laundry room and a dog wash shed with a raised tub, blow dryer, and hand shower round out the utility amenities. Young trees line the sites. They provide some structure now, though shade coverage will improve as they mature.

The Grand Canyon Railway runs adjacent to the property. The train departs around 9:35 a.m. and returns around 5:45 p.m., and campers with kids have noted the departures as a small daily event. A dog park runs along the tracks, and there is also a small playground, mini golf, and a fitness center on site. Full hookups accommodate RVs up to 50 feet, and WiFi performed reliably in at least one recent stay.

One practical note: the water lines can run rusty when first opened. Flushing the connection before hooking up is worth the extra minute. Some summer amenities may be closed during shoulder-season visits in spring. AAA discounts have been noted by at least one reviewer, and reservations are available. Pets are welcome throughout.

Railside works best for RV travelers who want full hookups, a clean facility, and a straightforward overnight stop while exploring the campgrounds near Williams corridor and the Grand Canyon region.

Great Stopover an hour from the Grand Canyon

The restrooms and showers are very clean. The sites are well spread out. Our site (10) backed up to a grassy site that could be another row in the future, but it was great for walking the dog. The management was mostly remote but came out to fill our propane. The one we met was great. They had been there for 29 years. As we were there in April, some of the summer amenities were closed. They do have a great laundry and a dog wash shed (bring your own shampoo), with blow dryer and raised tub with hand shower.

The Wi-Fi worked well.

They have a fitness center (see photo)

The only down sides are the water when it first came out was rusty. Let it run before hooking up. There isn't much to see on site. The roads and pull in site are gravel, but fairly level. Sites have trees, but will be better when they are bigger.

We took a day trip to Sedona from here and I recommend it.

Lovely RV site.

Backed up to a lovely green space and dog walk. Railroad is for the Grand Canyon Excursion train. 9:35 in the AM it leaves, 5:45 in the PM it returns. Everyone goes outside and waves. Full hook-up, AAA discount.

Convenient, kid-friendly

We staid at Railside RV ranch for a trip to the Grand Canyon. It has a convenient location and the staff were friendly. It has a small playground and mini golf, and the Grand Canyon train goes by a few times a day which our toddler enjoyed. It’s definitely a bare-bones kind of place, not very scenic, but did the trick at a decent price.

Great location and staff

The campground is right off of the highway. Close to the town of Williams and Route 66. Clean restrooms, showers, and laundry room. There is a nice dog park that is along the Grand Canyon railroad track. If we’re in the area again, will be staying here!
