We loved this park in the Arizona Desert. Close to everything, yet set up to feel like you're in your own little village. The amenities at this park are outstanding and the neighbors are super friendly. Sites are decent size! We loved the three pools, multiple hot tubs and modern showers and laundry rooms. Been going here over 6 years and I always look forward to my visits there in the Summer. They have 2 pools (one is heated), volleyball, darts, horseshoe, pool tables, hot tub, sauna, nature trails, a cafe open in the weekend, events and tons of other things going on. Most of the people there are permanent or semipermanent residents. It is a comfortable, family friendly community, although you it is rare you see children there. I highly recommend and will continue to bring guests to enjoy some Arizona sunbathing!
GuideWe stayed at this property from 12/28/2020 - 01/11/2020. This was our first experience with a TT/Encore property. The RV site we were assigned has a rock pad, was moderately spacious, level, in full sun, and a fire ring or picnic table was not provided. There was a pool, hot tub, lodge, pickleball, mini golf, shuffleboard, dog park, laundry and a fitness center on the grounds. The nearest grocery store was within 5 miles as well.

Only stayed here one night but we thought it was pretty nice. A little close to a busy road so for our pop up it was a bit noisy. Might try to get a campsite on the other side of the grounds next time. Nice heated pools and hot tub, Clean bathrooms/ shower rooms. Has a game room, pickle ball courts, Older playground, and a new dog run being built ( under construction). Sounds like there are plans to build a splash pad in the future. Free donuts on Saturday mornings too! Close to a gas station and Frys Food so you don’t need to go far if you need anything.

We stayed in the cabin and it was beautiful! There are parks or playgrounds for the little ones, the area was peaceful and clean, the cabins are clean and affordable, and it had the perfect amount of woods & wildlife. A family of dear would come to our cabin and graze each morning as I sat on my cabin porch with a cup of coffee. The staff is respectful and accommodating. We enjoyed our stay.

This KOA had some really awesome features and gives you most of the convenience of a hotel with the ability to bring your RV and your personal items with you without the hotel price tag. The KOA features a year round heated pool and jacuzzi. The pool area was fenced and had some chairs, tables, and what appeared to be covered grills. The pool is right outside the office building which also has bathrooms and a small convenience store. If they don't have what you are looking for the is a major grocery store about 2 miles away. This KOA is in town. Don't come here if you're looking for a remote destination. The other side of the exterior fence has houses and businesses.
Each site has a picnic table and some had a stand up bbq pit. The spaces are really close together and separated by a row of rocks. Up front they have 4 little single room cabins that say there can sleep 6 but have no bathrooms. There are some upgraded RV spaces that have outside grill areas with sinks and counter space.
The spaces have very little shade if any! Be very aware of the weather when you visit. It'll be hot during the day and very cold at night depending on the time of year. You will be randomly assigned a space unless you pay the fee to have an assigned space.
The KOA features a small fenced playground with a tetherball, swing set, merry go round, and a table with an umbrella. On the other side of the KOA there is a small fenced dog run. I also saw a stand alone sink near one of the loops. There is an activity center if you're hosting a group event. It had a few standing bbq pits outside. At the entrance was an air pump for filling tires.
RangerWe've really enjoyed our three night stay at Old Dutchman State Park. Grounds are well kept. Staff very friendly. Showers available. Campsites are well spaced especially if you are lucky to reserve an outer one. Great hiking trails from campsite to the Superstition Mountain.
Only hesitation are the limited toilet locations. There are only two for a rather large campground + cabins. Closest bathroom for the 105-134 loop was a 15 min walk. As someone who tents rather than RV the distance was an issue given the lack of privacy between sites.

We were here for a local event so we were able to do some nearby hiking and drinking at the incredible local Olive Mill across the road.
You can rent airstreams, campers, cabins, and all the glorious camping alternatives. It is a bit pricey but if you are looking for an alternative to tent camping (which you can't really find in Phoenix, this works great!)
Many of the campers come with FULL amenities..including netflix. You can usually fit up to 5 people in the campers so it's not that bad if you are breaking it down by the group for an event. They are retro fitted with fun decor and comfy accommodations. Many come with showers or tubs installed in the trailers too.
LegendWhile the sites at Lost Dutchman State Park are quite close together, the views and hiking trails are awesome! We camped in a campervan here (site 106) and it was perfect. We were in the 'rustic' loop, which consisted of sites without water or electric, and we could see Flatiron Mountain from our campsite.
My only complaint with the site is that it was quite a long walk to the restroom! Tent campers may not be able to find a suitable spot to pitch as the sites are small, but if you can get a site between 33 and 40, you should have room to pitch a tent. There are also hiker/biker campsites that require a short walk. These have amazing views, as do the cabins.
We would definitely stay here again - maybe in early March so we can see the wildflowers blooming!
GuideThis State Park campground located in the Superstition Mountains is a frequent quick camp spot for me if I don feel like trying to beat the crowds to some favorite local dispersed sites.
They offer sites with electric and water, and sites for dry camping, along with some cabins and group sites you can reserve. The sites offer as much privacy as one can expect in the desert and are not super close together, except for the site numbers 70+ which are only available in winter typically. There are plenty of hiking trails and activities in the park and nearby. The bathrooms and showers are clean and well maintained, and they even have a small dog “park” for your best pal to run off some energy.
Favorite things about the park: The views and the wild life. We have seen so many beautiful birds, from quail and owls to roadrunners and vultures, along with several different types of squirrels, lizards, hare, and coyotes.

Large clean spots. All spots are fenced descent pool and small store if you need anything. We stayed in the loop near the entrance. Quite loud with all the cars coming and going. Marina for boat rentals with a shuttle to take you back and forth. Strong WiFi. Kids were able to zoom without any issues.

Scott and Kevin have a great piece of property they love To share! Located in a valley of the Bradshaw mountains just about and hour and a half from Phoenix, this is an awesome getaway- away from it all. I boondocked for a couple days and enjoyed the quiet solitude of the canyon, enjoyed hiking, and the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. It’s a rocky dirt road to get here, but my class C rv easily made it- and I’ve taken it in worse roads. Well worth the effort, give this place a try! thanks Kevin and Scott!
GuideI stayed here for two nights while I was in the Phoenix area after having to reroute a trip due to unexpected winter weather at my original destination. I camped in a 22 foot rental motor home.
This was my first KOA experience, and it was such a delight. I arrived after hours, but some of the staff still on site saw me grab my check in materials at the office. He lead me to my sight in his golf cart, helped us get backed in and all settled for the night. Staff called the next morning to finish check in and verify our stay info. The staff this whole stay was so kind, it was amazing.
Our site (I believe most as well) was gravel but naturally pretty level. We had plenty of space between us and adjacent sites. The whole KOA has some nice touches as far as landscaping, sites with grills, etc. Very clean and well kept.
Location is about 45 minutes from Phoenix, which was perfect for us. We spent a little time in old town Scottsdale as well which is about the same distance. I would 100% stay here again if I’m in the area.

As compared to the Maricopa County Parks side, this has a little bit more party atmosphere, is less secluded, but you can almost always get at least a boondocking spot without a reservation. They also have large events here as well so check their calendar for the weekend you are wanting to go!
We keep a boat at Lake Pleasant and are part of the Arizona Yacht Club so we are up here all the time.
RangerArizona State Park campgrounds are generally developed to maximize profit at the cost of minimizing camper experience. Lost Dutchman offers one bath house to service five or six loops of campsites piled one on top of the other. Because there are so many sites, the campground is managed like a military operation with untold Numbers of rules and regulations to understand and follow. If you fail to follow, a Ranger will be by to repremand and straighten you out. Coyoties are bold here and will enter your camp even if barking dogs attempt to deter. I reserved four nights but left after two. Tortilla Flat SP up in the Superstition Mountains NEAR Canyon Lake or BLM/National Forest dispersed camping is tmore to my liking.
ScoutLet me just start by saying that I would probably be in jail or prison right now if I didn't change my life and have a career that I didn't want to risk losing. We moved to this park in February 2021. On arrival the staff was very friendly and welcoming. The park isn't the prettiest but the staff was friendly to us and our children. The park was alive and children played outside. It was a very comforting feeling. I had absolutely no issues with this park until ownership/management change. Rules started changing, especially for children. They basically made rules to restrict children from being children. One example is that children under the age of 14 cannot be more than 50 feet from their RV site without a parent. They say this is for safety purposes but even if that is true or whether you agree that it's a safety issue, it is an illegal rule in the Great State of Arizona. They claim that this is private property and they can make any rules they want but that also isn't true. I was also told"we have a lawyer that helps us make these rules and approve them". Well get a new lawyer because you were about 1 mistake away from getting sued ma'am When you make an agreement verbal or written to lease part of your property the"private property" laws do not apply as that individual is a tenant. All tenants rights laws apply at that point so no you cannot just make any rule you like. Now moving on to the biggest issue...... While a lot of the stuff was easily overlooked as their dumb illegal rules weren't being strictly enforced, over the last few months they have made aggressive moves to start"enforcing" their[illegal] rules which almost got their"head of security" hurt. I have 2 daughters that are 9 and 10 which I have on weekends and a 15 year old step son. I give my children chores and responsibilities so they grow up with discipline. My children are also very well manored and respectful especially for ages. One of my children's responsibilities were to take out the trash. One day my kids came from taking the trash saying some man said that they couldn't be out there and that they need to go home. Well immediately I told my kids that unless it's someone from the staff telling them anything that they don't have to listen to what some random in the park says just as I'm sure any parent would. Well here's the kicker. This old man that my wife, my children and myself had no idea who he was kept harassing my kids and never identifying himself as staff. He also never identified any rules to my kids. He simply just stalked my children any time they were outside riding around on his golf cart and waiting for them to get to where he was and telling them to go home. One day my kids come home and say the man was here to talk. I go outside and this old man with a really jerk smile on his face came walking up like he was going to tell me the law and I would bow like a dog. To be fair he didn't say anything but the way he presented himself you can tell that he felt he had some kind of authority. I ask"hey do you work here?" He says"I'm the head of security" with a very aggressive attitude. I said"okay?" and he told me they couldn't be outside without an adult. I said"okay, way to flex you'authority'". I felt like this guy just thinks that he is someone but has another thing coming. Well I called the front office and asked for clarification on the rules. They left a booklet with the"new" rules on them for me in the mailbox outside of the office door. I read the entire packet and checked their rules against Arizona State law and found that most of their rules are in violation. At this point I advised my stepson and daughters to ignore their security guard if he speaks to them(this is perfectly legal since security either public or private has no more legal authority than a citizen on the road) and if he harasses them we will take action then. My kids took out the trash one last time and Mr"head of security" harassed my kids and said"your father will be hearing from me" but i never heard anything. I even waited outside for an hour while he drove around on his golf cart. Instead i found a written warning on the windsheild of my work truck the next day. I was very upset because they were illegally restricting my children from being children. The old me would have stopped right there and someone would have gotten hurt but i just decided to ignore it and hope that it would come to an end. So my step son which is 15(above the age of going outside alone) liked to take showers in the shower rooms. One day he goes to take a shower and guess who tells my step son he couldn't be there and would have to go home. Yes Mr"head of security". When my step son came and told me he couldn't take a shower that was the last straw. I immediately walked to the office in hopes to talk this out and resolve this. As I got to the office the old man steps out with the same jerk smirk and aggressive persona and says"ah yes come on in" in a very condescending way. I lost it. This dude has no respect, no idea about the law and no idea what a security guard is supposed to do and neither does the manager Debra. I may have been screaming and cursing at this man but they don't realize that he was 2 seconds from a memorable or I guess possibly hard to remember ambulance ride. If I didn't turn my life around and didn't want to lose my job he would have learned a very valuable lesson that day. Debra threatened me with a 24 hour notice to leave the property. I told her she wouldn't want to try that because if she did she would have a lawsuit. I decided that moment that we had to leave for the safety of my future and their head of security.
RangerVery clean and quiet RV park. Most of the sites are taken by people who live here full time in either a moveable RV or a trailer home. We stayed here over New Year’s 20/21 and most people where inside by sunset and not making any noise. Even during the day while people were out, it was still very quiet. The roads coming into the site are narrow and people sometimes have their vehicles parked in part of the roadway which makes it hard to drive your RV around to park it or leave. When security showed us where our spot was, he asked us if we wanted him to ask a resident to move his truck so we could park. The park sells propane onsite which was very convenient, and you can also purchase it if you are not staying at the park. They do allow RV’s that are over 10 years in good condition.

Refundable $20 deposit to get bathroom key. Did not use laundry. Stayed 3 nights. Very open, but a tree between each rig. Not much shade. Full hookups but no CATV. $73 per night. I will. Stay here again when I’m in the area.

LegendWe have a 36’ Class A with a Cherokee Trailhawk tow and stayed for just an overnight in late April. This is a big resort and comprised mostly of permanent residents with a central pull-through area for transients. The sites are gravel and fairly close together, but the CG is clean and“patrolled” frequently by folks on golf carts. If you’re a Class A or C towing, you’ll probably have to drop to to access the hookups, as they are at the back end of the pull-throughs, not toward the middle as they usually are.
AT&T coverage was quite good, with 2-3 Bars of 5G+ service and speeds up to 23 MB/s. The CG WiFi was pretty decent as well, with speeds up to 4 MB/s, but varied depending on congestion.
