    Review of Countryside

Countryside is a park with lots of sites dedicated for seasonal travelers. Spaces are close together. This park is more than a RV Park with amenities than a rv resort. I believe of 500 sites with over half the park being cabins and pad trailers. I would say here again.

    La Hacienda RV Resort

    Great place to stay

La Hacienda RV Resort is one of the nicest RV resorts that I have seen! Lot of big trees, Beautiful pool and spa, very clean air conditioned laundry and the price was very reasonable, they have a shower room for men and one for women the showers were very clean and modern. This RV resort had full hookup with Fiber Optic cable and internet. There were several craft rooms, a lapidary room, a spa, 2 Picle Ball courts, there was shuffleboard, a computer room, a sewing room, a card room..... I could go on and on about the amenities and how much I liked this RV resort, but what I liked the most was the staff!!! Joyce and Ann in the office were a true pleasure to work with! I searched East Mesa and Apache Junction for a place to park my RV for about 6 weeks(I was undergoing a surgery procedure at MD Anderson) In all my searching I found this resort and while it wasn't the cheapest, it was by far the most reasonable and it also was the best place that I could find! I forgot to mention that they are a pet friendly park if you stay on the pet approved area! I also have to add that the people who were our neighbors were super friendly and even all passed a get well soon card around and wrote kind words of hope for a speedy healing. You couldn't walk down the street without seeing a friendly face or someone who was happy to visit. I grew up in Phoenix and never considered vacationing in Phoenix for that reason....but...LA Hacienda RV Resort has me rethinking this!

    Picacho Peak RV Resort

    Well maintained, views for days.

This 55+ RV park and resort is well maintained. Most people appear to stay long-term, but they have short term spots available without reservations. We aren't in the "55+" age bracket, but if you call ahead, they will likely let you stay without any questions (we're 2 adults and 1 dog).

The park has a large number of park models in the back; the RV spots are in the front of the park, closer to the I-10. Most sites are pull-through sites, with some back-in sites. All sites have a view of something. Most sites have white fence panels between for privacy, but if you're staying over it might be worth driving through to check out the available sites before choosing one.

That brings me to the procedure for overnight camping here. We arrived on a weekend, so the front office wasn't open. Next to the office door, there are two clear boxes -- one with envelopes and the second with maps. The envelopes have site numbers and are available for short term stays. You can compare the site numbers to the map to make sure you get a spot perfect for you. Most sites have both 30 and 50 amps, but the map will identify the ones with only 30 amps available.

The road and train noise is noticeable outside, but not a big deal inside the camper. We did hear the trains sometimes at night, but nothing obnoxious.

The amenities are amazing: putting green, pickleball, horseshoes, dog runs, pool...you name it. The residents were friendly -- lots of golf carts, electric-assist bikes, and small dogs. Despite some large political signs, it was welcoming. We'll be back.

    meh...

This is basically an RV parking lot with lots of traffic noise and nothing pretty to look at. Don't look at the pictures as they do not reflect what you are dealing with. The staff are great but everything else is .... NOT.  Internet is crap, you have to spend $100 to get decent service.  I guess if you are a longer term resident that makes sense.  Except for the wonderful staff - and a full hook up - this was just not good.  I would rather dry camp in a pretty place than stay here.  super disappointed and am leaving early because of it.

A jewel in the desert farm lands

Very well maintained and beautifully landscaped 55+ RV resort. The facilities are kept in great condition. Large sites, many park model and modular for sale or rent. Gated community. Pools and spa, horse shoes, pickle ball, activities center and club house and much more.

Stayed here over Independence Day week on vacation. They have 10 year age limit on RVs but made an exception for us due to it being the off season. We found all the staff and permanent residents very helpful and nice. Great little retirement or winter hold over.

    Fun & Active 55+ Resort!

Fiesta Grande RV Resort in Casa Grande, Arizona is a nice 55+ age qualified RV resort in the sunny Arizona desert. The staff here is very welcoming and friendly. They have almost every activity you can think of for a healthy and fun stay. The resort has a full activity calendar with the days full of classes, activities, and shows. The sites are FHU and we were surprised how large and clean they are. If you are a Trails Collection member, this resort is free for two weeks at a time. It’s a great deal and we would highly recommend it if you are in the area. 👍🏻😬

    Get curb parked for $27

We stayed here 2 weeks when we were new Thousand Trails members (it came with the RV), but since we showed up the first night at sunset, we were curb-parked that night.. Which is when one of the very lovely security staff there let us know that it's less expensive (for non‐TT members) to get one of those curb spots (with electric, & close access to showers, pool, laundry) than to get a regular spot. So this time, having let TT expire, we tried this out- no reservation (I did call ahead, but indeed, curb spots are unreserved), just show up at dusk or later, and this very nice, truly chill but soo ginormous resort let us park right in the front/middle for the night. And swim. And do laundry. They put cones around us, and said we could put out our slide-out! Checkout's at 11. There's a Jack-in-the-Box .4 miles from where they park ya. We plan to use this again!

Couldn’t drive any longer so used my KOA app on the road and booked it. Pulled in after hours and folder was waiting with map and site number. Very convenient to the I-10 with big gas stations nearby for coffee and gas for early exit. Full hook ups, easy pull through and well marked sites. Would use again if needed.

Great RV park. Plenty of room between pads. 50 amp Electrical, no water hookups, but 100 gallons lasted us six nights.

Great hiking trails of for all levels. The self guided nature trail was by far the most informative of the four we visited throughout AZ and NM.

    Palms Mobile Home RV Park

    Probably Not

CAVEAT: As a woman traveling alone, I didn't feel comfortable stopping to ask questions here, much less stay, but your experience and comfort level may differ.

Gila Bend is a charming little bump in the road between Phoenix and San Diego. It has a very Mexican feel to it, with souvenir shops and a good old-fashioned carneceria, and is also home to the Space Age Restaurant, which some consider a must-visit.

This particular RV park, however, would probably not be your first choice of places to stay, even though the other cheap choices here would be the parking lots at Pilot (east end) or Love's (west end). Someone has tried to liven up the fence line with new bougainvillea plants, but in general the place looks rundown/slumlike, and is mostly fixed-in-place mobile homes, not RV spaces. There are one or two places where mobile homes have just been left to decay where they sit, and there was a large trailerload of debris outside the office that looked like it had been there for quite a while. Given that the beautiful and pristine Painted Rock BLM park is only 30 minutes down the road and about a fifth to a third the cost, I'd give this one a miss.

    Holiday Village

    Mini community feel

This is a long term residential park, and by the reaction of the office staff they are not used to grubby campers walking in to ask about staying for one night. It was more of a sales office that was more geared toward selling lots.

We picked this place because it was the cheapest on Passport America($18.50 with discount, $39 full price). Sites come with hookups (50amp only) and you stay in a spot in a most confusing maze of streets among mobile homes and permanent residents. There is a club house and a pool and a craft and woodworking workshop. There is paper recycling and a long forgotten mixed recycling shed, maybe it will be revived one day.

Laundry room is open 6am to 4pm only. No change machine or soap dispenser. Quarters only.

Street noise was very loud all night, and some train noise as well.

Good for a chore day for dumping and filling of tanks and laundry. Also in town so grocery shopping nearby as well. Would not stay here otherwise.

    Cozy in AJ

This KOA sits on the outskirts of Apache Junction, which itself isn't Phoenix proper but an eastern suburb. The RV park has all of the basics: power, water, sewer plus a pool and a level, clean site.

Very nice spread out park to relax for the night

We stayed here one night and would recommend it for anyone wanting to enjoy the night skies, having some distance between RV pull in's, and relax while driving cross country.

The staff was welcoming and showed us to our sites and ensured we hooked up with no issues.  Then, let us enjoy the night.

The dog run was great and well maintained.  We thought he pet rock cemetery was touching (passed on pets have rocks with their names on them laid out in a small memorial).

We had a pull through full hook up site.  The site was required minor leveling, but no need to unhook. Wifi worked great.  There was road and rail noise though.

We are not sure if there are really any local attractions.

    Beautiful desert sunsets!

This is a beautiful place to camp most of the year. The Summer sun ☀️ can be brutal of course. I love to stop here on my way to New Mexico. There is something about being in the middle of the desert with the backdrop of the mountains and cactus 🌵 that just helps you breath a little better. Watching the sunset each night is breathtaking. This campground is just off the road but far enough back that you don’t hear all the road noise. Each spot has a picnic table with awning so you have some protection from the sun. Each spot has a fire pit and smaller rocks that make a nice “bed” for your tent ⛺️. The spots are pretty far apart so you don’t feel like you’re right next to your neighbor.

The campground has a total of 85 electric sites for both tent and RV camping. Sites are suitable for RVs and/or tents. You can have up to 4 cars on each site. There are 4 sites that are handicapped-accessible. Unfortunately there aren’t any water or sewer hookups available. There is a dump station available. Access to all sites is paved. Sites are fairly level and are located in a natural Sonoran Desert setting.

$30 per night / per vehicle (October – May) $25 per night / per vehicle (June – September) Additional vehicle $15 per night / per vehicle Group Camp Areas: $15 per night / per vehicle + Group Reservation FeeBoth back-ins and pull-throughs are available. No maximum size limit (except no tractor-trailers allowed).

    Well maintained and very friendly

Important: If you plan to arrive after hours you must call ahead so you can get the gate code. They gave us a temporary spot that was pull thru due to the time of our late arrival. Then at noon they escorted us to our site to set up for the duration of our visit. I included an images of daily, weekly, and monthly rates for 2023 and full list of amenities and the winter activities. There are also deluxe sites available. This camp ground is pet friendly with a dog park area and offered daily planned activities. We participated in game night, line dancing classes, aquatic aerobics in the heated pool, and the New Years party. The showers are very clean and the laundry room was immaculate. The sites have full hook up 30/50 amp and sites up to 100'x55'. They offer propane services. There isn't anything to do in the town.

    Good stay

This is an extremely well-maintained park. Campsites are nice sized and well spaced with some shrubs and trees. Bathrooms and showers were spotless. Beautiful pool. Management is very accommodating and efficient. Covid safe.
I am not sure why it was listed within Good Sam but we were unable to get a good Sam discount. 47.50 is a bit more than we are used to paying as full time traveling RVers.

    Quiet Park

Very clean and quiet RV park. Most of the sites are taken by people who live here full time in either a moveable RV or a trailer home. We stayed here over New Year’s 20/21 and most people where inside by sunset and not making any noise. Even during the day while people were out, it was still very quiet. The roads coming into the site are narrow and people sometimes have their vehicles parked in part of the roadway which makes it hard to drive your RV around to park it or leave. When security showed us where our spot was, he asked us if we wanted him to ask a resident to move his truck so we could park. The park sells propane onsite which was very convenient, and you can also purchase it if you are not staying at the park. They do allow RV’s that are over 10 years in good condition.

Very nice for a short stay

For an RV Park this is very nice. The staff and full-time residents were very friendly and helpful. The sites are small, but very well maintained. The pool and hot-tub are lovely. There is a pet area, but it is gravel and backs up to a farm, so if your dog is reactive to large animals I wouldn't suggest taking them there. Visited the Casa Grande Ruins and San Tan Mountain Regional Park for hiking with our dog.

    I’m the volunteer camp host

I’m Lisa, the volunteer camp host here from October through Easter. I’m often on-site and happy to help! Here’s what you need to know to enjoy your stay: • About the Park: This is a peaceful, primitive, and clean county-run park. We offer shaded picnic tables, six spotless port-a-jons, and a dumpster for trash (access the side doors, as the lid is locked). Please respect the 10 mph speed limit to minimize dust and maintain the park’s tranquility. Campfires are not allowed on the ground; please use your barbecue or an appropriate fire container. • Reservations: Reserve ahead during winter months as we often fill up. Large RVs should plan carefully as sites are limited. Smaller rigs, please select an appropriately sized site to help us accommodate everyone. For reservations, use the website, not the app (it doesn’t always show specific sites). Need help? Reach me on-site or call the office weekdays at (520) 866-6920. • Amenities in the Park: • A large, fenced area for off-leash dog exercise. • Shaded picnic tables and clean port-a-jons. • Nearby Amenities: • Gas Station/Showers: Less than a mile west at the I-8/84 interchange. • Dump & Fill: Wild West RV Park (4 miles east) offers self-serve for $20. • Stay Limits: Maximum 14-day stay. After that, you must leave for seven days before returning. • Nearby Services: • Stanfield (10 miles east): Dollar store, El Rancho market and restaurant (highly recommended), laundromat, post office, and Circle K. • Maricopa (20 minutes north) or Casa Grande (30 minutes east): Larger stores and provisions. • Local Highlights: • Dwarf Car Museum (5 miles north): Ernie’s handcrafted, ¾-scale classic cars are a must-see. Open daily, 9–4. • Rooster Cogburn’s Ostrich Ranch (Picacho Peak): One of my favorite spots for an inexpensive, fun day! Feed a variety of fascinating animals and enjoy the unique experience.

Wherever your journey takes you, may you be blessed and happy. 🙏💕✨

    Mesa-Apache Junction KOA

All the features of a hotel

This KOA had some really awesome features and gives you most of the convenience of a hotel with the ability to bring your RV and your personal items with you without the hotel price tag. The KOA features a year round heated pool and jacuzzi. The pool area was fenced and had some chairs, tables, and what appeared to be covered grills. The pool is right outside the office building which also has bathrooms and a small convenience store. If they don't have what you are looking for the is a major grocery store about 2 miles away. This KOA is in town. Don't come here if you're looking for a remote destination. The other side of the exterior fence has houses and businesses.

Each site has a picnic table and some had a stand up bbq pit. The spaces are really close together and separated by a row of rocks. Up front they have 4 little single room cabins that say there can sleep 6 but have no bathrooms. There are some upgraded RV spaces that have outside grill areas with sinks and counter space.

The spaces have very little shade if any! Be very aware of the weather when you visit. It'll be hot during the day and very cold at night depending on the time of year. You will be randomly assigned a space unless you pay the fee to have an assigned space.

The KOA features a small fenced playground with a tetherball, swing set, merry go round, and a table with an umbrella. On the other side of the KOA there is a small fenced dog run. I also saw a stand alone sink near one of the loops. There is an activity center if you're hosting a group event. It had a few standing bbq pits outside. At the entrance was an air pump for filling tires.
