Prescott National Forest's Enchanted Forest Trail Campsites sit along a dirt road roughly 5 miles off Highway 69, putting downtown Prescott, a Walmart, and a Costco within easy reach. The Forest Service manages 11 marked dispersed sites here, set among tall pines in a valley that limits cell reception. Verizon users may pull a usable signal; T-Mobile campers report little to no service. Tents and vans fit the sites well, but reviewers consistently advise against bringing travel trailers or larger RVs given the road and site dimensions.
Cleanliness is the most frequently raised concern across reviews. Multiple campers have found trash, scattered toilet paper, and signs of long-term occupancy at some sites. The sites cluster relatively close together, and noise from neighboring campers has been an issue, particularly at sites nearer the road. Site 11, at the far end of the dirt road, provides the most separation, though it also sees traffic from vehicles turning around. Campers willing to explore a bit have found cleaner spots up a hill off the main loop.
The mountain biking trails nearby draw consistent praise. Michael F. calls them "better trails than Thumb Butte," with routes ranging from shaded singletrack to wide-open terrain. Lynx Lake is a short drive up the road and draws anglers for a few hours at a stretch. Campfires and pets are both permitted. Campers wanting more separation and a quieter setup might consider Prescott Basin Dispersed Camping a short distance to the southeast, or browse dispersed camping near Prescott National Forest for additional options in the area.
