Butterfield RV Resort and Observatory

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Stargazing is a genuine draw at Butterfield RV Resort and Observatory, where an on-site functional observatory provides free tours to registered guests. The resort sits close to Interstate 10 in southern Arizona, making it a practical base for exploring the Cochise County region and nearby historic sites. Full hookups with electric, water, and sewer connections serve RVs of most sizes, and the facility also includes showers, laundry, a pool, and WiFi. A hotel tax of roughly 10% is added to the nightly rate, which is worth factoring into your budget before booking.

Convenience is one of the resort's more consistent selling points. A Safeway, Ace Hardware, restaurants, and a farm supply store are all within walking distance. Cleanliness comes up repeatedly across reviews, with guests noting that the facilities are well-maintained and the grounds kept in good condition. Cell service has also drawn comment from multiple visitors, so those relying on a signal for work or navigation should plan accordingly.

The resort has hosted weekly music events including a Thursday country jam and a Sunday gospel session. Sandy H. describes the place as "clean and pet friendly," which aligns with the general picture across reviews. Campers looking at camping spots around Benson will find this one of the more developed options in the area, with Quarter Horse Motel & RV Park nearby as an alternative. Management experiences have varied significantly among long-term guests, so those planning extended stays may want to read recent reviews carefully before committing.

Pretty campground, ugly management

Our 6 month stay here was bizarre to say the least. After being there for a couple of months we started hearing about a few couples being singled out as troublemakers. One couple was asked to leave because they questioned the management's demands to know who they had sold their little mobile building to. To date there have been over 8 campers kicked out of the park. When asked why they are told they didn't follow the rules. When they asked management what rules they had broken they are not given an answer but instead told they had harassed the management or managements employees. Everything out of the managers mouth is either a lie or gross exaduration. The group kicked out are said to be troublemakers by current management but in truth they made the mistake of asking"why" regarding some policy changes made by current management. Personally we have never experienced anything like this. We witnessed threats, bullying, targeting and harassment. What we didn't experience was customer service. Since leaving the park of our own accord we have been harassed by current management and we are now viewed as one of the troublemakers group. Needless to say, we won't be back.

Butterfield RV Resort

This is a smaller high end facility that is managed very well. As a point of interest there is also a functional observatory on site that has free tours for those staying at the park. A Safeway, Ace Hardware, restaurants, and a TSC are all within walking distance of the park.

very nice and clean place to enjoy

This rv resort is a very well kept one and in an excellent condition. The resort is close to the freeway and historic sites as well. The nightly fee is reasonable and staff members are friendly/responsive. Due to Covid-19 restrictions I chose not to use all options available to guests such as pool, laundry, etc. but all facilities seem very clean.

Only thing I did not appreciate was the fact that this place charged the hotel tax of about 10%, but for a short stay I guess it was ok. Not sure if the hotel tax is Tuscon area specific.
