Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge & RV Park welcomes campers with pets at both RV sites and cabins along the Kenai River. Each pet-friendly site includes fire pits with adjustable grill racks, picnic tables, and access to full hookups for RVs. Most campgrounds near Cooper Landing maintain a standard leash policy, with dogs required to be on leash at all times outside vehicles or RV units. Hidden Lake Campground offers spacious sites with multiple tent pads and natural buffers between campsites, allowing pets to enjoy more space while remaining secured. The campground survived the Swan Lake fire with trees still providing privacy between sites. Upper Skilak Lake Campground and Lower Skilak Lake Campground both permit pets in camping areas and along hiking trails. Campgrounds provide bear-proof food storage containers essential for pet food, as black bears and grizzlies are regularly spotted in the area.

Dogs must be closely monitored on trails due to frequent wildlife encounters throughout the Kenai Wildlife Refuge. Ranger patrols often check campgrounds each evening to ensure proper food storage and discuss recent bear sightings with campers. Crescent Creek's secluded sites accommodate tents and small campervans but remain too small for large RVs or trailers. The campground access requires crossing three single-lane bridges with weight restrictions of 10 tons maximum. The bumpy access road to Upper Skilak Lake requires slow driving, especially with RVs or trailers. Gwins Lodge offers primitive camping with only porta-potty facilities but allows pets throughout the property. During peak salmon runs, fishing spots near campgrounds become crowded, making secure pet restraint essential. Hidden Lake features separate camping loops with Ridge and Lake loops having tighter turning radiuses than Skyview loop, which accommodates larger RVs with pets.

      Granite Creek

      One of my favorites

This is one of my favorite campgrounds on the Kenai Peninsula. Close to Anchorage (c. 45 minutes) and well maintained, each site has a gravel parking pad, a campfire ring with metal grate, and a picnic table. The sites are large enough to pitch several tents on each, but separated from each other enough that you won't have to watch your neighbors brushing their teeth in the morning. Granite Creek runs along the east side of the campground, and there are some small fish (Dolly Varden, I believe) that you might catch if the conditions are right.

Only 30 minutes from Cooper Landing, Granite Creek is a great home base for some more serious salmon fishing along the Kenai or Russian Rivers.

Bring bug spray, keep all your food bear safe, enjoy!

      Quartz Creek Campground

      Wonderful Campground for all

This USFS Campground is right off the highway at Kenai Lake near Coopers Landing. Easy access for most any size RVs or trailers, well spaced, improved, level sites with big wooden tables and metal fire pits with metal cooking grates. Water and very clean restrooms and locking trash cans throughout the 2 loops. There is a boat launch. One side has Quartz Creek  running along it and another has lakefront campsites. There are first come, first served as well as reserved campsites. Some are single ($18) and some are doubles ($28) and there is a dump station. Salmon run up Quartz Creek and once they arrive the Bears will too. Very close to Coopers Landing and the Russian River. Lots of hiking, Mtn Biking trails, boating and fishing within very close distances as well as small stores, gas stations....

This is a great, quiet campground very close to many popular areas in Alaska. It is very busy once the Red Salmon arrive, esp fron mid July to mid August...

Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge & RV Park

      Closed right now for COVID

Currently closed but anything Princess cost $$ but is beautiful. If you are willing to pay the price the Princess facilities are some of the most beautiful I have seen. Located in beautiful Cooper Landing and a short drive down the scenic Seward highway.

If you are on a once in a lifetime vacation and renting an RV this is worth a stop.

      Gold Creek Gold Mine

      Camp anywhere you can find

This is the best camping in Alaska. Just find a spot big enough for your rig it tent and pull off. There are many regularly used sites that have rock fire rings already made. Always make sure you are not in a drive way and that there are no POSTED signs to keep off property. Bug shelters highly recommended because depending on the year it’s mosquitoes, flies, or bees.

Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge & RV Park

      Met Our Needs

We followed our RV GPS and turned off AK-1 at Bean Creek Rd, which brought us to the Kenai Princess RV Park. A steep left turn led to the office, where we had a super friendly check-in. There was an RV in our site when we arrived, but the office quickly moved them to the overflow. The sites were split on two sides of a wide road with a large turnaround area, so backing into Site 35 with FHUs (30 AMP) was easy. The site was long enough for our 40’ toy hauler, including dropping the patio, and we could still park our F450 crosswise. Sewer connections were at the back center of the pad, with water and electric at the center—no issues. Water pressure was about 40 PSI. Because of perimeter trees and fishermen’s vehicles, we set Starlink on the roof for a clear sky shot. Verizon gave us 2 bars, while T-Mobile had no service. There were paths around the campground to the lodge and down to the lake, which we enjoyed walking with our pups. There weren’t many grocery options in Cooper Landing. The nearest major amenities were about an hour away in Soldotna. Overall, this was a decent campground that met our needs.

      Cooper Creek South

      Great spot on the Kenai

Cooper Creek is a great, smaller campground to choose when the popular nearby spots fill up with anglers. For some reason, this spot is not as in demand as the Russian River campground, despite having many of the same amenities.

This campground is great for group camping trips, as each site is rated for 8 people and a few can have up to 12. There are many ada-acessible sites to choose from as well, which was a great help when bringing along family in need.

The gravel roads can sometimes mean backing-in is a bit more strenuous than other paved campgrounds, but if you're camping in Alaska, you probably already know how to reverse park a camper! Picnic tables were always well maintained, and the deep firepits came in handy for our large fires. They even have grills built in!

Toilets are well maintained, but we always had to supply our own method of handwashing - hand santizer, in our case to leave as little trace as possible.

Don't forget to bring your fishing poles (get that permit first!) and keep an eye out for bear activity.

Exit Glacier Campground — Kenai Fjords National Park

      Accesible and Amazing

Exit glacier is an amazing destination for all ages and capabilities. Although dogs are not welcome on the hike, it is short enough that you won’t be missed long. If you can’t do much hiking, the path is paved to a viewing point but you can still get extrordinarily close without any extreme terrain. I visit almost every year while visiting family and reccomend it to anyone coming from out of state. A lot of Alaska’s glaciers are hard to access but this one isn’t!

      Centennial Park & Campground

      Good central location

If you’re looking for a campground with access to the Kenai River, and walk distance to downtown Soldotna, this is it. Typical Alaskan camping...no hookups, but nicely wooded and mostly private. Walking distance to some of the best road accessible fishing in Alaska.

      Seward Military Resort

There is no campsite without a breath taking view of mountains and glaciers

WI think a mile walking distance to downtown Seward. A City shuttle comes for free a couple tines a day. There fishING resources to rent. Cavins, yurts and camp sites. Late August the silver back salmon run. We caught one. The Alaska Coas talk train and Exit Glacier are awesome destinations. Resort staff are helpful

    Guide to Cooper Landing

Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge & RV Park accommodates pets in cabins and at full-hookup RV sites, providing a base for exploring the Cooper Landing area with dogs. The RV park sits along the Kenai River with sites suitable for both tents and large RVs, maintaining clean shower facilities and a market where staff lend bear spray for dog walks on nearby trails. Sites feel somewhat close together, but perimeter trees create privacy for pets and owners. Laundry facilities and a well-stocked store provide conveniences for longer stays with animals. Bear activity requires vigilance when walking dogs on the lodge's trail system that features viewing decks overlooking the Kenai.

Hidden Lake Campground offers secluded pet-friendly sites across three distinct camping areas—Skyview Loop, Ridge Loop, and Lake Loop. The campground maintains wheelchair-accessible sites on each loop, with Skyview providing the largest spaces suitable for any RV size. Dog owners appreciate the private, tree-covered walk-in tent sites located away from the main camping areas. The Hidden Lake boat launch gives pets water access, though campers should bring bug spray and bear deterrent when exploring with their dogs. Seven-day camping limits apply at $10 daily. Most sites provide good privacy and seclusion from other campers, though the campground fills quickly during holiday weekends and summer months. Sites near the lake offer excellent fishing opportunities with pets nearby.
