Seven miles south of Westport along the Washington coast, Grayland Beach State Park Campground sits on 412 acres where forest meets ocean dunes. The campground operates year-round with 100 sites arranged in multiple loops, accommodating RVs up to 35 feet with full hookups and offering both drive-in and walk-in options.
Sites feature paved pads with electric, water, and sewer connections, plus picnic tables and fire rings. Most sites include natural screening from surrounding vegetation, though Joseph M. notes that "the pad was surrounded by trees and felt really private." The campground provides restrooms with showers, though campers report facilities can be cold during fall and winter months. Cell coverage varies by carrier, with Verizon users reporting reliable service while others experience weaker signals.
Beach access requires a walk along paved roads followed by a trek through soft sand dunes. "Several marked trails available to walk to the beach," reports one reviewer, though the distance can be substantial depending on your site location. The beach allows vehicle driving in designated areas and offers opportunities for razor clamming, surf perch fishing, and beachcombing. During winter storms, campers can hear waves crashing beyond the dunes throughout the night.
Winter visitors should prepare for potential flooding at sea-level sites, as the reservation system flags certain spots during wet seasons. The park stays busy during fishing season when nearby Westport draws crowds, but quiets considerably in winter months. For those exploring the broader region, campgrounds around Westport provide additional coastal options.
Reserve sites well ahead during summer and clamming seasons, and pack extra propane for heating during cooler months.
